You know if he really didn't want to be with Melissa that is fine, everyone gets nervous and scared and makes a mistake...HOWEVER...did he really need to humiliate her on national television. Couldn't he be a little more discrete! As for Molly, what an idiot..she was 2nd choice and if he hurt Melissa...he will probably hurt her too!
