My belated June 21 wedding review
First off, I want to thank Sandy(July5bride) for coming to see me the morning of the wedding and helping me stay calm. I also wanted to thank all the brides and future brides on this board for all the help that this board provides.
As most of you June brides know it rained on my day too. It was pretty disapointing, but I tried to make the best of it. We had to have our cocktail hr. inside instead of on the deck overlooking the ocean. Also after spending 4 hours on my hair and make-up, after the pictures on the ocean, I looked alittle more like a drowned water rat than a bride.
Any way, I just wanted to give a quick review of my vendors(I did find them all through this site) so that future brides may benefit.
Kimjon designsA+++++++ I can't say enough about Kim. My flowers were beautiful and I got so many compliments on them. I know she is located further out east than most of you(southhampton) but anyone in the area should definitely look into her. She went above and beyond what a normal florist would do. She is so sweet and talented and I can honestly say I think I'm going to miss her now that this is over.
Bridal reflections(Massapequa) B+ I had no major problems with them. The dress was alittle tight the last fitting and when I said something the seamstress didn't want to change it. She told me I would lose a couple of pounds right before the wedding but I really didn't want to count on that. Guess what? I lost five pounds that week and the dress fit perfectly. Only it was about 6 inches too long and I keep on stepping on it. I couldn't tell at the last fitting because I was up on the pedestal thing. Not a big deal, I just had to lift it up alot to walk around and I did get stepped on a few times.
Verdi photographyA+ Rich and Mindi are great to work with and have been a pleasure this whole time. From my engagement pics to my proofs everything has been perfect.
Wild RoseA+ There's nothing I can say that hasn't been said already. They are great and they deserve all the praise they get on this board. I have'nt seen my video yet, but I'm sure they captured everything.
Spin around soundA+ I had Tom and someone else do my wedding(sorry can't remember the other guys name) They did a wonderful job. They also got alot of compliments from the guests. My family is not big on dancing but there seemed like alot more people on the dance floor than the usual family wedding. They did great.
Gurney's inn in Montauk C+ It's a beautiful place and they seem to do a great job. The only problem I had is with the bridal coordinator, Jeffrey. Unfortunetly I booked before he worked there. I had problems since day 1 with him and it only got worse. The week before the wedding (SAT)I started calling him everyday and he never called back. Finally on Wed. I told his secretary'look I'm getting married in 3 days, he has to call me back' He finally did on Thurs. My florist, Kim had warned me about him, so earlier I made up two contracts of my own stating how I wanted everything set up and the food that I wanted, I also gave him 3 pictures of my cake, just to make sure he got the idea. Anyway, The food was all wrong, which was such a waste after I went for a tasting and I made up menu cards. I don't know where they got that cake from but it wasn't even close to the picture I gave them. I wouldn't be nitpicking but he actually started to yell at me right before the ceremony. I got there 15 minutes early and realized I forgot the marriage license in my room. My sister's BF had to run back and get it. Which would only take a minute because I was staying at the hotel. Jeffrey started yelling that we didn't have time for that we had to start right away because the rain was coming. Mind you, I was early and you can't start a wedding early, rain or not. And obviously the Rev. wasn't going to marry us without the license. After that I never saw him again. He was supposed to be there all day. There was also a couple of other minor things. I paid extra for frozen drinks at the cocktail hr. and they tried to make my sister a margerita with gin, which I never heard of. She told them you need tequila and they told her they couldn't do that. I certainly didn't pay extra for gin margeritas! I don't mean to go on much longer I guess I just needed to vent alittle. This has been bothering me for the last 3 weeks.
All in all I did have a beautiful day and I had so much fun. Once it got down to it I didn't let things bother me and had a great time. I just wanted to thanks LIW and all the vendors that I found on here. And to all the supportive girls on here also. I'll come back in Sept and review my Hawaii honeymoon.![]()
