My boyfriend is not baptized...
Re: My boyfriend is not baptized...
If you get married at the hall, you can have a non-religious ceremony if you choose. But if you want to get married in the catholic church, your fiance must become a catholic and get baptized, have confirmation, etc. I would contact your local parish.
Re: My boyfriend is not baptized...
i am not sure 4 the hall - but i know my fh had been baptized and not made any other sacraments and the church we are getting married in would not marry us w/out him making them - so he had to 'make them up'.....it seems to vary by priest and church i think - your best bet might be just talking to the priest (ie- a friend of mine who had nothing, needed nothing....we needed everything)

I think as long as the Catholic signs the papers stating they will raise the children Catholic that as long as the groom is baptised it is fine (I don't believe he needs to be confirmed). Yet at the hall, I'm not sure if this will be a concern.

Re: My boyfriend is not baptized...
my fi is baptized andf made communion but not confirmation. when we went to church they only asked for our baptismal papers.
Re: My boyfriend is not baptized...
Without you FI having received all the sacrements you won't be able to have a Catholic Mass. But you may be able to have a ceremony in the Catholic church. Talk to the Pastor of your church ASAP.
Re: My boyfriend is not baptized...
When I was married, I hadn't made my confirmation and I had to take a class and be confirmed before my church would marry us. I don't think it really matters whether he's baptised or not if you marry at the hall
Re: My boyfriend is not baptized...
my church didnt even ask if we had all our sacraments, just baptismal. we are getting married in the catholic church. my friend also got married in a catholic church and her husband didnt get confirmed.. does it differ per church?
Re: My boyfriend is not baptized...
You can get married by a priest at the hall...and it will be regonized by the church. (Since he is not baptized) I was told this at my church. If both of you were baptized you can only get married in the church for it to be regonized. I think it is silly...the church as way too many 'rules'
Re: My boyfriend is not baptized...
I am not baptized and my fiancee is. We are getting married in a catholic church. I did not have to be baptized or anything I just had to sign the paper that everyone signs saying that I will do everything in my power to raise my children Catholic. It really was no hassel at all. I think it cost us a little more though.
Re: My boyfriend is not baptized...
I am so happy to see this thread. I am totally procrastinating on the church because of all these problems. My FH was baptized at a Protestant church, but he does not believe in religious stuff. I was raised Catholic, and although we don't go to church or are very religious at all, my parents want us to get married at our church. We're in CA and we have to get a Prenuptual Investigation by a priest out here before we can save the date in NY. One priest I spoke with gave me a major attitude when I told him that I didn't belong to his parish. I'm afraid that when we get 'investigated' they won't approve us because we don't go to church. Ugh! There are so many rules and so much of it is hypocritical. Its so frustrating. I'm a good person even though I don't go to church on Sundays and so is my FH.
