My Bridal Party

My Bridal Party

So, thank GOD for my MOH who is an amazing friend. She is there for me through good times and bad. She has FUN talking wedding with me, listens to my vents about the stresses that come along with it, gives me great ideas, goes with me for wedding stuff, and I know I can count on her.

As for the rest...

there's my bridesmaid, who was originally supposed to be my MOH, but claimed she was too busy being a new doctor to do her duties. So, she had her mother call my mother to bow out on her behalf and demote herself to a bridesmaid. Well, got a call on Valentine's Day that she herself became engaged 4 days before and was required by her religion to be married within 90 days. Okay... great. Hadn't heard from her, so I shot her an e-mail about two months ago to see how she was. Got an e-mail back saying she was busy and looking for a place to get married. Her b-day was May 14. I called her and got her voicemail and left a message. Nothing. Okay... 6 months until my wedding, and I haven't spoken to one of my supposed best friends in over 3 months now. Feels real good...

My current sister-in-law and 2 future sisters-in-law make up the rest of my bridal party. I never get any help from them. In fact, the FSIL's apparently complain about the costs of everything. Not one of them offers to help. It's almost like my wedding isn't really happening. It would be nice for one of them to offer to come help make favors with me. SOMETHING that would suggest I'm getting married, other than the complaint that the bachelorette weekend in the vineyards is going to cost a lot of money. In fact, I get wise remarks about how 'into' wedding planning I am, and how I'm always on this website. It's almost like they think it's comical that I go for makeup trials and stuff and bridal expos.

I just wish I had the type of bridal party that was just oh-so supportive the whole way through and were thoroughly supportive with me. I'm gettin' nuttin' - except from my MOH, my mom, dad and brothers. . Not even my FH is getting 'excited' with me about the actualy wedding!

Any suggestions? Sorry... just needed to vent. i'm having a bad day!!

BP:

1 MOH (best friend). Always asking me if she can help me. She is the best.

1 Best man (FH best friend). Organizing the Bach. party. Listened to FH and what he wants to do.

I feel so lucky!!!

This might not make you feel better but--- I don't think there is such a bridal party. Most come with disappointments and drama from what I have seen, heard, and experienced. Consider yourself lucky with your MOH, I sure do.

Yeah, you're lucky that you have your MOH. I had to ADD a person to my bridal party because no one else seemed to care.

None of my girls care, they don't offer to help, and one constantly complains about the cost of being in a wedding (keep in mind she is my OLDEST friend and has been in several weddings before... she should know the deal by now, and should be very happy to be a part of my wedding, considering the fact that I've known her since I was 5). My MOH is useless, she just complains about how she is 'not' doing this and she is 'not' doing that-- normal things that MOHs are supposed to do, like lend a hand every now and then! I wish I didn't spend so much $ on their gifts, b/c in all honesty, they don't help and all they do is complain.

The reality is, noone is as exited about your wedding day as you are. My mom and sister were the most involved in my planning. DH, not so much, but most guys feel like the wedding is for the bride anyway. I got support from my BM's, but I did mostly everything. But that was my fault because I didn't ask for help. You need to ask them to get involved. They don't think about the wedding all the time like you do. I was the most annoying bride ever because all I talked about was the wedding. I had to make a conscience effort to shut-up about it. A lot of us went thru this.

Unfortunately, that's true. I also agree with babybug that you have to ask them to be involved. And as crazy as it sounds to a bride, a lot of people, including the bridal party, think that the wedding is far away until it's basically the month before.
Ask them for help - they probably don't realize the amount of time and work it takes to put together a wedding and won't realize that you need them until October!

If you need help, ask them instead of waiting for them to offer. Maybe that will get a better response from them?

awww trust me i feel the same way...my family isnt into it. His parents are even worse! My parents went to places to look but other than that nothing. My BP w/ the exception of my MOH & 1 friend hasnt helped me! My own sister and my other BM whos my cousin..not to mention i was in both their weddings havent done crapola! My younger sister who only works part time isnt much of a help but always has a $ excuse and my 2 FSIL are just useless!
as for my fi hes just always making the comments on whats this going to cost me! makes ya insane i know how you feel! enjoy your planning ask the girls for help..and if they dont want to do it well screw them and do it w. your MOH! Enjoy yourself w/ her!
