My Bridesmaid dropped out 2 months before the wedding

I am sooo upset. One of my bridesmaid and close friend just told me that she can no longer be in my wedding. She has family issues and financial issues going on right now and said that she can no longer be a part of the wedding. I'm sooooooooooo sad, what do I do???????

I'm sorry this happened to you!! Is she still able to come to the wedding even if she can't be part of it? If so, is there a way you could help her out with the dress and stuff so she could still participate? Maybe she feels bad that she has too much going on to really give you the support you deserve, and that with the costs of being a BM she couldn't afford a gift. It's clear from your reaction to the news that this is a friend who means a lot to you. It will mean a lot to her if you are there for her even at a very busy time in your life. Maybe if you tell her that having her by your side is more important to you than getting a gift or having her do any other BM duties, she'll reconsider. Hopefully everything will work out OK for her and she's lucky to have your friendship.

As far as what to do about if she doesn't participate - if it makes your numbers uneven, just have one girl walk in with 2 guys. We did this with 2 girls and one guy and it was actually really cute.

awww....did she already pay for her dress? what expenses does she have left before the wedding? is it the cost of a gift and hair and make up that she is worried about? if you really want her there (which im sure you do b/c you said she is your close friend) than tell her that you just want her to be there for you and that you dont want any gift from her b/c her being there is important to you....

Thanks for the support guys......I have a total of 4 girls, now 3. The odd part doesn't really even matter, I don't even care about that.... I had told her once before that I would help her financially if she needed it and she doesn't want to take it. She wants to be there 100% for me and if she can't then she wants to leave it at that.

I'm gonna try and convince her that I just need her sitting there next to us, and not to help in anything else, that's all that really matters right now.

She only paid half for her dress and we didn't even pick them up yet since they were special order from India. So I'm gonna pay for the rest of it and see if she still just wants to be there with us and hopefully she will, but we will see.

I dont know if it's an option but could you help her with the dress until after the wedding and let her pay you back? I know the strain of finances with the wedding might be too much but this could help keep a bm if your really bumbed out. I just did this with one of my BM.

I'm sorry to hear that happen- I had the same happen to me but it was 10 months prior so it wasn't so bad.

i had an issue with one of my BM's and in the end it was just better that she not be part of it, so i asked someone that i really really wanted but I met after i asked everyone.. but she was strapped for $$ to, so i paid for her dress.. and I found shoes that were really cheap, and I explained it to my other girls and said i would pay her share into my bridal shower, but they were sweet and understood.

Its just so sad when you really want them to be there

Hopefully she will come around, maybe just go and pay for the dress for her, and tell her not to worry about anything else...

I know its so hard though
