One of my cats (i have 2) has lately been completely shredding the roll of toilet paper inthe bathroom lately - to the point where at night and when we are at work we have to hide it in the cabinet! he is 2 yrs old and this has never happened before. What should I do - get a scratching post? There is a mound of toilet paper!

My little Mr. Peabody used to do that all the time. Except he shredded toilet paper, paper towels and tissues too. We started putting the toilet paper up on a shelf in the bathroom to break him of the habit. Now he doesn't do it anymore. He also used to take all paper stuff out of the garbage in our bathroom and bedroom and shred that too. Anything he could get his paws on to shred. He does like the scratching post now a days, so its worth a try! Good Luck!!

Yeah a scratching post should help. I came home today and saw a big hole in my cats food bag. I knew it was domino not oreo

My cat loves paper too! We have to keep the toliet paper in the cabinet and all the tissue boxes upside down. A scratching post should help and maybe some toys. Good luck!

Definately get a scratching post! One where the cat can fully extend when he stretches is the best..... it's time for a new one for Ashes....my monster is almost 15 pounds and long! He has also gotten into the bag of food to! He is not destructive like some of yours though, but very aggressive when he plays! The toys help.
