She would only do it for her chuppah, so I think we have to rent hers and then she can drape ours inside. Just a lot of money that I know my parents can't really front right now, but my mom messed up and FH and I don't have the money because we are so close we didn't budget this in. If it's free standing though, is it weird just to have friends standing at each corner? I'm so confused and torn and annoyed about this.

Hmm...if she can put hers up do you still need to put yours inside? I'm trying to visualize what you're planning :) You could always ask your florist to do a basic chuppah for you with draping and minimal flowers if its less stressful for you. I'm sure it wouldn't be crazy expensive and would still look beautiful. As far as free standing I'm sure it would look fine with people standing underneath. Is there any way to use a base to hold the poles in place? I was thinking like a base you would use for a patio umbrella. I could be way off base here...lol, not a DIY person at all.

I appreciate your help. We actually never planned on using her chuppah and the rental alone is a fortune so we can't afford to add flowers to it. We had a beautiful personalized quilt made for us that was going to be the chuppah so since it would be just plain and white, draping it inside would add a pop of color. If if doesn't work, I'm buying poles and figuring it out myself. Just so frustrating that my mom couldn't figure this out sooner. Thanks for your help and for listening! I appreciate it!

I don't know all the details of building one but are there any friends/neighbors or something that can help your mom with the build? My dad and fiancé are very handy so I can't imagine a trip to Home Depot can't get it built lol

My best friend's sister built one for her wedding and it's been passed around to a few friends and family members. They used the bases of umbrella holders that they got at a Lowes or Home Depot. If they weren't in Maryland, I'd totally ask them if you could use it! I'm sure someone on here should have something similar that you could use! I'm just using my florist's chuppah though.
