My computer has a virus!!!

I am so annoyed. FH was on computer last night ans some how now I have a virus. I know its probably not his fault but I couldnt help getting mad at him.

Are there any computer inclined ladies out there that knows how to fix viruses?

Is you know you have a virus than I am assuming that you are running Anti-Virus software on your PC? I am also assuming your PC boots up.

Make sure your anti-virus software is up to date and then run a full scan - the software should do some work for you or at least quartantine it. Also, when you know the names of the viruses you have, go to Norton Anti-Virus site and search for it. Those sites often have detailed instructions (for free) on how to clean you machine.

If you don't have up to date Anti-virus software - you most likely can download a free trial version from Trend Micro (very good) or Norton or McAfee. I am not sure how many of them still offer it but many use to.

Thanks for the info. Kp I do not have MSN instant message. I cant get on to the internet at all. Everything else seems to be working but that.

I did a full Norton scan, its not picking up any viruses. I keep getting errors for the internet.

what are the errors? why do you think it is a virus?

Niecey - I got an error when I tried to get on to the internet. I dont remember what it said and I am not home. But it was something like - USER.EXE at .......
It had a lot of details.

hmm... hard to tell from that. I am much better when I am in front of the PC - because I don't do PC support at work anymore - so I am not as sharp as I was.

Who is you internet service provider? calling them may help.

Also re-installing your browser - are you using Internet Explorer? - may help.
