I mentioned to a former colleague, who now hates the company,
'yeah, it's not that great here anyway. They never even acknowledged my wedding. And, I invited a bunch of them to it.'
She replied, 'Oh, I remember speaking to 'Mary'. I asked what they were going to do to celebrate for you. She said that when she asked the boss (my boss was recently married and they did ALL kinds of stuff for her)
the boss said, 'Oh, Sue doesn't need that kind of thing. And, I have a lot going on right now.'
My teammates never even send A CARD! And, believe me, I get along great with them. And, I'm always the first person to pitch in $10 for somebody's Birthday. Including my boss...

That says a lot about the environment you work in as a whole. They dont sound like nice people! I am so sorry - but if they want to be like that, then 'ef em, dont give any money for any more birthdays.

Re: my coworkers NEVER acknowledged my wedding...
Wow. Your boss sounds selfish and maybe a little jealous (maybe she didn't want you getting as much attention as she got). But that shouldn't have stopped your co-workers from doing something on their own. I'm so sorry they didn't make you feel special like you deserved! That's really awful. And also just basically impolite and inappropriate.
But you had a beautiful wedding and you're going to have a beautiful marriage and that's all that matters!

Re: my coworkers NEVER acknowledged my wedding...
Don't feel bad, my FI had a similar probelm at work, she fell and broke her tailbone at work about 2 months ago...she hasn't recieved a phone call or a get well card from her department, nothing! Oh wait she did recieve an invite to a co-workers office shower and was asked to give money, she said in not so many kind words they could take the invite and put it where the sun doesn't shine, I can't believe how rude & selfish people can be!!

Re: my coworkers NEVER acknowledged my wedding...
That stinks! I have a feeling nothing will be done at my job either. I have worked here for over 3 years and am very friendly with everyone, but they've never done anything for brides in the past, so I can't imagine it being different for me.

Re: my coworkers NEVER acknowledged my wedding...
It's the same in my company... I've organized many baby showers, and bday meetings for people, yet I never even got a 'Happy Bday, Lissette'.
Needless to say, I doubt they'll say 'Congratulations, Lissette'...

I'm sorry you work with such rude people. We are all very happy for you - don't let them dampen your excitement. You are a bride and a newlywed!!!

Re: my coworkers NEVER acknowledged my wedding...
Well I work at a school and they could care less. I felt like they really couldn't be bothered w/ my happiness or with details of the wedding. The people who I work with, I'm guessing , really are not into extravagant weddings, who knows. But they really don't take much interest.

And, today I found out why:
I hope you are now...keeping your marriage life a secret from them. Don't mention personal events..to them. Keep it hush , hush, if they really don't care about it, don't even waste your time, talking to them.

Don't let it bother you too much. Everyone is probably right, they're all jealous.
