My digital camera died. Need recommendation

My digital camera died. Need recommendation

Help! My digital camera is dead.

I really need help with a new one. I want something that is fairly small and can take pics indoors in low light. Those were my main gripes about the old one.

What kind can you recommend? Appx cost would be helpful too

Thanks!

We got DSC-P10 and we're really happy with it. We paid $500 in June, but I've seen it for $450.

From Sony's site:

You won’t believe how much camera you get for your money with Sony’s new Cyber-shot® DSC-P10. This remarkable digital still camera combines unrivaled image quality with compact Sony design, delivering 5.0 megapixel resolution (effective) with a 3X optical/4x Smart Zoom lens and intelligent features, like 3-Area Multi-Point AF (Auto-Focus) and Continuous AF for sharply-focused shots even in low-light or active conditions. 16-Frame Multi-Burst function captures 16 320x240 frames with 3 selectable intervals for convenient motion analysis. You can also take MPEG movies and record voice memos for your photos. The DSC-P10 also features a lightning-fast USB 2.0 interface for high-speed transfer. Memory Stick PRO™ compatible with included 32MB Memory Stick Media.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Kodak DX3700. Love the camera and the software. Really easy to use, takes great pictures, and very sturdy. 3.1mega pixel and 3X zoom.

canon....powershot 100 series...

We ar in the process of getting another one (I dropped it one too many tims...and the barrel broke - not canons fault) and I found out that the compact flash card is better than the new SD (secured digital)...and the size difference is minimal...so if you already have compact flash memory cards...maybe stick with that...

ETA: it has 3.1 pixils (you really don't need anymore...unless you are printing posters) and 5x zoom

I have the Kodak DX3700 and I HATE IT! I have had nothing but problems with it!

However I am going to upgrade and stay in the same easy share line becuase my FBIL as well as other have these cameras and the work get! They are lightweight, small and htye have a new 5 mp camera!!!!! I also love the easy share feature, put it on the base hit abutton and walk away, when you cme back all the pics are downloaded and the battery is charging!! And whoever said it, the software is so easy to use! Not top quality on what you can do with the software but its user friendly for the basic adjustments.

Oh they run from about 250+ depending on the model and the base is an extra 80 I think! but its optional

Kelley...I have had one problem with mycamera and that was with the rechargable batteries. I read somewhere to upgrade to LIthiom Batteries and that is what I did. I use CRV3 Batteries that you can get from CVS. They last about a year and you just throw them out after that. As for the easy share system, and the kodak digital camera software...I have a feeling that you arent updating the software. Every few months I get an email saying that there is an update available. You need to update this. If you do not you will run into problems of the pictures not uploading or the software not working right. I know two other people that have this camera, and they both agree with me that it is an excellent camera and the software is very easy to use.
I paid $199 from Tigerdirect.com and I also got the dock for $70 additional dollars.

Liz, I have the Fuji FinePix2600
It has 3x optical zoom (optical a MUST)
and a host of other features. Easy to use, and the software is great.
Also, the quality of the pics are fabulous
I got if for about $250 (from Netmarket.com)
It's pretty small and lightweight too.

I also have a canon powershot (elph), the S400, and LOVE it! It takes awesome pictures and its so TINY (that was a big requirement - prior to this I had an olympus d-460 which was great but just too big). Its packed with features and even takes little 'mini' movies!

edited to say there are a number of cameras in the powershot line, so prices will vary. I think mine was ~$400 (4megapixel), but there are definitely lower models (lower megapixels) that are also great.

I *think* my FIL has the same one LisaT has, and the pics it takes are phenomenal and the little movies are great too!
