My DJ just backed out of my wedding- 2months until the day

My DJ called. I booked 'Dream' they use to be called LA entertainment. Anyway Im his getting married October 21st and he said thathis brother is getting married at a island and he is his best man and he may not ne able to do my wedding. Isnt this ********. Anyway he said he would let me know on Monday if he can do my wedding. What should I do? How can i trust him? Plus he was rude when i told him that I did not want to wait around . Im so upset.

I'm so sorry that happened. If you call your hall, they may be know of a DJ that had a cancellation or is otherwise available.

That cancellation policy should only be applied if YOU cancelled the deal, which you didn't. You should be entitled to 100% of your deposit because HE can't do the job and this is completely out of your control. Make sure you get all of your money back!! Good luck to you.

I was going to write the same thing! You aren't cancelling - he is. It's not like you're backing out and leaving him with an open night (which is why so many require deposits) - he's bailing on you! Demand your money back!

I would try to find at least two DJ's and contact them today to see if they are available for your date........once you know they are........call 'Dreams' and tell him (dont ask) that you will meet up with him so he can give you your $1000 Cash Balance.

I hope he dont think hes gonna walk away with it.......and let him be rude.....you just make sure you are rude right back.

If he refuses to give you your money back, you can tell him you will give him three options.......either 1) you will send his negative review all over this website OR 2) tell him you will call 'SHAME ON YOU' OR 3) take him to court

And you will see how much that $1000 is worth to him

Thanks guys. The contract says if cancelled 4 months prior then he keeps 50% and I gave him a depoist of 1000. I know I gave him too much. He was my first vendor and I was so excited. Im going o start shopping. do you think it is too late. I know body rock has my date , but Im afraid of them because I heard mixed things.

He is the one breaking the contract. You need to get your $$ back.

Does your contract say anything about him providing someelse to DJ your wedding??

Contact FM Entertainment. They're a vendor on here. They did a fabulous job. And I agree with everyone else. YOu should absolutely get all of your money back if he cancelled and if you don't you can take him to small claims court!

Usually when businesses change their names...thats shady. But I would definitely get the money back and tell him that he's unreliable. But check your contract..because in mine it says if possible XXX will do the wedding. I know several vendors put that clause in there in case they got sick or whatever.

I would cancel him and look for someone else...He seems untrustworthy and a creep! I wouldn't want him there that day now either way!

My sister realized 3 days before the wedding that she forgot to confirm the DJ and no one was planning on coming!! We went straight to the yellow pages and started calling around. We offered to pay the new DJ cash which helped him 'clear his calendar' for the weekend! You'll find another DJ who will be great, no worries!
