My dress!

I called the bridal shop to give them my new contact information, and while I was on the phone with them, I asked about my dress.

This is what the told me. (Now keep in mind, I ordered my dress on April 2nd, and was told in June it would ship the first week of August and be in the second week of August. My first fitting to be in September.)

Now I'm told my dress is not going to ship until the 3rd week of September, which means, it won't come in until the last week of September, which means that I can't do my fitting until October (and I'll have to wait until after the Jewish Holidays to schedule my first fitting... only 4 WEEKS before my wedding) And then I have a final fitting only 2 weeks later... a week before the wedding!

Is it me just being paranoid, or is having my first fitting only a month before the wedding cutting it close.

And to top it off, she tells me that the dress is made in the orient and it has to ship from there, go through customs... etc.....

What do I do if the end of september rolls around and they tell me the dress won't be in until the end of October?

The good news is that when I called for my dress they only scheduled my fitting about 5 weeks (10/11) before my wedding (11/18). So as long as your dress is in by October you should be okay!!

I would go there in person and ask them why the date was pushed back and that it is cutting it too close. I would flat out tell them that I am not happy at all that it is so delayed and remind them of your wedding date. Ask them for the mfg contact info, let them know you mean business.

My first fitting is August 26th for my Oct 8th wedding. I think you'll have plenty of time. If you bought it from a reputable bridal shop I wouldn't worry and put my faith in them that they know what they are doing.

My wedding is October 1st and I am going to go for my first fitting the last week in August, and my dress has been at the shop for a few weeks now. I don't think you should be worried at all.

I agree - I am putting off my fitting as well. I'm getting married in mid oct. and my dress has been in for months.

my girls are even going late for their fittings.

Thanks ladies! It irritates me to wait almost till the last minute to do things. Just my anal/control freak nature. I worry that I ordered my dress so long ago, and they've already changed the date it's due in twice on me in the past month, what happens if it first comes in early October and there's something seriously wrong with the dress? Like it's not the correct dress? That's why I ordered my dress so early on. They told me it would only take 4 months and here it will be almost 6 months until the dress is even in.

When things don't go by my timeline I start to freak out.... My bridesmaid dresses which were ordered 2 months after my dress are going to be in this week.

My wedding is 10/30 and I just scheduled my first fitting today for 9/26.

I just went though the same thing. I ordered my dress late and was told it was not shipping until 9/15 - only 4 weeks before the wedding. And mine is coming from Australia and has to go through customs, etc. But I was surprised when I got a call it was in a month early and at the dress store now. It will most likely come in early and if it doesn't it is ok. 4 weeks is plenty for fittings. My seamstress said that is fine. Most people only need 2 and not 3 fittings. So I understand how you feel. Try not to worry. It is hard because I have been worried for months!

dont worry a bit. I had my first fitting about 4 weeks before and last about 2 weeks before & everything else was fine

Please don't worry, I ordered my dress the first week of January. It was due in May, but did not arrive until late June. Well, I had my first fitting on July 30th - less than 1 month before my wedding.

Part of it did not fit, they magically got me a new jacket for my dress in 3 days and they were able to fit it perfectly for me. My wedding is in less than 2 weeks. I went for my second fitting on Wednesday, and my mom came with me, she noticed a pull in the silk, and they magically got me a new camisol in 1 day. I am going in tomorrow to see it and have it fitted to me.
