My wedding is April of 09... I am in the process of losing weight...lots of it... so I am parlaying on going to try on the dresses I've been eyeing. I was thinking the end of Sept. is the latest I can go...and then I'll just have them take it in alot in March...does that sound ok..? Can I wait it out a big more...or is that pushing it? i'm having my BMs go at the end of this month / begining of next month. But I'm getting nervous about mine. I gained my weight when my father passed...but I'm really working on fixing it back to my size 7/8!!

Re: My Dress....
So, do you think Sept is pushing it then? OY!! Now I'm getting scared! I was told that 6 months is usually a good enough amount of time... ????

Re: My Dress....
i'd say try on dresses now! you should try to order your dress soon, but at least start looking!
you want to have time for alterations and you dont need to stress about whether your dress will come in time
exception: if you are buying off the rack from a place like davids bridal, take your time

I think it depends on the designer you are looking at too...I ordered my Maggie Sottero gown about 7 months before and it came in plenty of time

Re: My Dress....
I would start looking now. I'm not sure about Alfred Angelo dresses but I know that some dresses take longer to come in then others. I ordered my dress in September and it arrived in the end of April. It took about 7 months. Good luck with your weight loss. I wish I had that kind of will power!

Re: My Dress....
I think 6-8 months you should be fine. Aug/Sept would be fine as long as you select it and order it by then. They say never order for a lower weight since its hard to say if you will lose and how much you will lose. Its best to order your size now and get it taken in later when its closer to the wedding if you lose weight. Nothing worse then ordering a size or more too small and not being able to zip it or it pulling and uncomfortable. Don't worry about the size bridal gowns run 1-2 sizes bigger than you normally wear.

Re: My Dress....
Make sure you can actually take in your dress! I ordered mine in a size up because I needed it up top, for whatever reason (certainly not big boobs!) and when I went in for the first fitting, was told that they can't take it in at the waist! It has heavy beading so to do something will take extremely delicate work, and alot of it. So be careful. Make sure to ask a seamstress (come in when she's there if you have to).

Re: My Dress....
I think 6 months is enough time to order a dress.
If the dress has a lot of beeding around the waist its difficult to take in, talk to a seamstress or two about getting it taken in. It will cost big bucks if they have to sew on beeds manually.

Re: My Dress....
I woud start looking soon! Every designer seems to vary with how long the dresses take to actually come in...Why risk the stress right before your wedding?
