I called the bridal shop to see if my dress is in and it is (nice of them to call). Then I said oh that's perfect I'm getting my hair trial next weekend can I come in then. They said no bc it's in the warehouse and that I can only try it on if I'm being fitted. Anyone else have this problem? I haven't seen the gown since August and I'm dying to see how it looks and now I have to wait till April or May!! I'm not sure what to do, it's mine can't I just have it?

Re: My dress is in but I can't have it
According to someone I know who used to work in bridal shops, they do this for 2 reasons. First, the more your dress is handled before the wedding, the more potential there is for damage and getting it dirty. So they want to keep the number of try-ons and the number of people touching it to a minimum. Second, she told me that they do have brides who will want to come in and bring everyone they know to see them in the dress tons of times before the wedding. This is probably why they didn't call and tell you it was in- they usually don't do the first fitting until about 2 months before the wedding.

I think that is NOT right. I know my place told me I can come in as many times as I wanted to try my dress on.

To try on for fittings, not for play time. Otherwise it takes up a lot of their time that could be used for business.

First off I would like to say this practice is wrong. When my FIRST dress came in from Bridal Reflections, it was the WRONG dress!! They should let you come in to see it if for no other reasons than to make sure it is the right dress and there is no damage.

Re: My dress is in but I can't have it
It was a huge ordeal and I had to fight with them. I live in florida and they know that, they told me I should 'pop in' and see if I liked this dress anyway (umm, I live in FL and NO becuuse it was not the dress I wanted) Anyway long story short, I fought and fought with them, got my money back eventually and went crying to a bridal shop down here in FL. The shop down here got me the correct dress and were nice enough to not charge me any extra money for the rush job.

If it's paid fpor they should. I can understand them not wanting you to make weekly visits but you haven't even made sure that everything is right with the dress.
I paid for mine and took mine home this week. My first fitting isn't until the end of April. They had no problem with it as long as I paid the balance in cash.

If youre spending that much money on a dress you should be able to see it when you want. They should make it happen. Otherwise I would pay in full for the dress and take it and have my fittings done elsewhere.
IMO thats just RUDE! You paid for it... I understnad they are 'wasting' their time with someone who already paid, but still! Thats just wrong.
