My dress is in...and the drama it took to get here...
Sorry if this is long but read through the post..because apparantly dresses do not take 6 months to order and you can RUSH a dress if necessary...
So the fantastic news: My dress is finally here!
Here's the drama leading up to it...
So I bought my dress on 7/1/2010 at a boutinque in Los Angeles. It's a La Sposa (Pronovias) dress. Like an idiot, I had given them my actual wedding date of 7/22, which I later realized was a mistake as I'm getting married back in NY and wanted to have the dress done and in my hands well before then. I think I'm going to carry the dress on the plane with me. So we paid for the dress in full. The consultant said i would have it by January.
So rule #1 - always give a fake wedding date when looking for dresses (I guess most people know this but I didn't)
I went back into the store a few days later with my mom so that we could take pictures in the dress. I asked the consultant to put a note in my file that I wasn't getting married in California, so please don't go off my wedding date. She never did. I aksed when she would order it. She said October.
I called to check the status of my dress in November and nobody really gave a damn. I asked to confirm when the order had been placed. They said July 1st, which was a lie, buecause when I went into the store with my mother on 7/3, the order hadn't been placed yet when I spoke to the girl. They gave me some BS excuse that it would be there by the end of January. I called again in January and I was given the run around again and told they would have a tracking number for me later that month.
I call at the beginning of February and they give me an excuse that all dresses are being delayed due to the terrible weather back East.
I call again and speak to a new person, who is AMAZING. She's the newly hired store manager. This place never had a manager before and she was hired to basically go through all the orders/files and clean up their unorganized mess. She tells me that since my wedding is not until July, that the dress hasn't been shipped adn that she would follow up with Pronovias in April. I told her, 'No, we had discussed that I need my dress before then.' She said there was nothing in my file and apologized profusely and said she would try to get in touch with Pronovias.
Well, I became even angrier and told her that I was sick of being lied to and given the run around and that I have no faith in what I am being told. That i have always been given the run around and that i have not once felt comfortable since paying for my dress in FULL. They have always made me feel like an inconvenience and not the Bride. I told her i was promised a 1/31 delivery date by the consultant and that I want my dress immediatly because I am not comfortable giving them any more business with alterations.
This manager got through to Pronovias in Spain on Wednesay morning. She emailed me and said I would have my dress tomorrow and would update me with the tracking number. My dress literally arrived Thursday morning!
This manager went above and beyond for me and had my dress overnighted! Whether it truely came from Spain or from the flagship store in NY, I'm still very, very impressed. Who says you can't get a dress last minuute? It doesn't have to be the sample one!
