So my dress was allegedly ordered directly through the designer from a friend of the family, and was to be delivered to a certain bridal store in suffolk county. It was supposed to be in last week, and that was confirmed the week prior. Still, no dress, no call to even say that it would be late. So my mom called salon owner this morning who said she'd have to call her back, and my mom called friend of the family, who didn't return phone call.
I am DONE being nice because it was supposedly a 'favor' - you don't seek to make profits off family friends if you're really doing them a favor. I am absolutely raging mad. All i wanted was to go see and try on my dress before my surgery, so i could order a veil. I DO NOT HAVE A VEIL!!!! Which means I cannot go for my hair trial until god knows when. I can't try the dress on in a store because no one carries it. I am beyond angry!!!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE - STILL NO RETURN PHONE CALL, AND I LEFT A MESSAGE AT THE BRIDAL SALON ALSO (woman was 'not available' to speak to me)

go to the store! this is BS. where is it? you need a group of angry brides? we can stage something like you are ruining their business.
i can go in and tell them i have no budget...you can come in and complain...and i can storm out. haha. they will think they lost a big sale! LOLOL

I can certainly relate to your frustration. The bridal store I ordered from closed before I received my dress. I did eventually receive the dress directly from the designer, but I know how much being in dress limbo sux.
I'm sure everything will work out.
If it helps, though, you don't need your veil to do your hair trial. I did my hair trials in summer '08 but did not choose a veil until spring '09.

Yes, it was Bridal Couture of Manhasset.
Try not to stress about the situation. I know it's easier said than done. I drove myself crazy until the UPS guy delivered the dress to my door. Deliveries may just be a bit delayed because of the volume of deliveries this time of year.
If they really give you the run around, you can always consider contacting the Better Business Bureau. Often places become much more cooperative when the BBB gets involved.
