My Ebay Dress w/ pic and advice for buying online

Hello LI Brides!!!

I just wanted to write and share with you all my experience with buying a wedding dress on Ebay.

I paid $600 for a once worn Paloma Blanca wedding dress, and it was one of the best decisions of my entire wedding experience so far. I really want to encourage other brides to do it because I saved SO MUCH money this way, I am just as happy with my dress as I am with how much I paid for it!

Advice for others considering Ebay:

1. If it looks 'too good to be true,' it probably is. There are some foreign 'dressmakers' advertising that they will make replica dresses for you. Please be aware of what you are bidding on when you buy.

2. Find out if the dress can be let out. Ask the bride who wore the dress about her size and measurements when she wore the dress. DO NOT ignore how tall she was. You must her height or shorter since she likely had her dress taken up to fit her.

3. Know what looks good on you. The reason I purchased my dress was because I knew that the a-line style would be perfect for my pear shape. I would not take the risk of buying a mermaid style dress on this body, but for you, that might be different!

4. Realize that you are taking a risk. You always have the option of trying to re-sell your dress, but recognize that you might not like it and will have to try and turn around and sell it again.

For me, what it came down to was that I was going to be wearing this dress for 12 hours, MAX. I could not justify spending thousands of dollars on it, but I did not want to compromise on style.... Maybe this sounds like you....

Finally, I'm trying to post pics of the dress that I bought. I have taken it to a dressmaker and actually changed the color scheme. The sash is now matching ivory, the underlining of the lace top was replaced with ivory so that the dress is more monochromatic, and the straps are now ivory as well.

Gorgeous dress for a great price! Congrats!

The only alterations I needed were to take the dress up 2 inches. There was minor wear on the bottom of the dress but when it was taken up, that came up as well. My bride was 2 inches taller than I.

As for damages, there was a button that fell off that she included and we sewed back on, and I had to re-sew the loop for the bustle.

Those were the only alterations necessary since I went over sizing in very detailed emails with the bride before I bid on it.

congrats! It's beautiful I wish i could buy on ebay or something like that but im too hard to 'FIT' for a dress because im smaller on the bottom but broad on the top so my size changes dramatically from one dress type toa nother... but you got a GREAT DEAL yay for you!
