My ex is moving to brooklyn

My ex, the guy I was supposed to marry b/f DH, just e-mailed me (I haven't heard from him in 2 years, after he realized I was living with someone), to tell me he's moving from Toronto to Brooklyn....it's a small world I guess. I wanted to keep a friendship up with him when we broke up but he couldn't handle it...it's been so long I think it would be weird to see him now.

hmmm....

Yes, I'm married. My DH and I are both still friends with some of our ex's. We go out as couples with some of them and their newfound loves. Some of them were at our wedding!

I've remained friends with most of the people I've dated, we ended amicably. DH would be fine with me grabbing a cup of coffee and catching up with an ex-we trust each other very much and would never do anything that the other didn't want. Friendship has always come first in any of my relationships, so often that friendship remains.

Everyone has diff. attitudes about that stuff. I'm sure there are girls on here who have stayed friends with an ex.

To add:

This person is moving into our neighborhood, and he mentioned that it would be better to meet formally and catch up-rather than awkwardly meet on the street.

I'm just not sure I want to do either if I can avoid it, but I'm not sure. If he can be friendly to DH, DH would be friendly to him. It's five years ago that we broke up and I started dating DH, so it's not like a fresh situation.

just want to say I support being friends with ex's. A large part of the relationship is friendship, and if the relationship ends amicably, I see no reason to throw everything away.

I met Al through an ex (who Al went to HS with). We're both still friends with ex's and we each had one at our wedding.

You're in kind of a strange situation since its been awhile. And its sounds like he may be carrying a torch since he stopped contact after you were living with someone. I'd feel out the situation and then decide. It could be fun to catch up.

I guess it all depends on how it ended and what the ground rules are. SOme exes want to test if they still have that pull on your heart. As long as you let him know there is nothing there and it is all just platonic then all should be well.

The exes I don't like are the ones that cannot move on and make you live in peace.
