Ok in about an hour from now, I will be going for my first/baseline mammogram. Most of you dont have to worry about that now because you are too young to qualify for a baseline. But for my 36th b-day, my OB/GYN not only gave me pre-natals but an Rx. So off I go...
...and this evening, DH and I are donating platelets. I hope they give us good cookies afterwards!
UPDATE #1 Mammo - DONE!. It wasn't horrible. It did hurt though. I said to the technician 'Wow, the large-breasted women must have it rough huh!' and she said that actually, the smaller breasted women like me have a harder time because there is less tissue and it is harder to get on the table.

UPDATE #2 I couldn't donate platelets or whole blood because my iron was too low. DH told me to go home and he will call me when he is done. It could be up to an hour and a half. Oh joy!

I've donated platelets and at first it's weird..but it's a great feeling, I got some great cookies and treats after. Be sure to drink lots of water before you go to keep yourself hydrated
I'm almost right up there w/ya for a mammo. Few more months...

Yay because it's a good thing to do! I've been going since I'm 28 (family history) and always feel better afterward.

Leslie - all I can say, is that I hope the same thing that happened to me when I went for my baseline doesn't happen to you!
Some of us are old enough to have had not only baseline, but follow-ups!

Re: My exciting afternoon....(UPDATE #1)
I had my first mammo last year. You're not alone! And I didn't think it was too bad either. Not good, but not bad.
And don't worry, I only got boobs when I gained 80 pounds. My brother used to call mine 'mosquito bites'.

I feel your pain, Leslie!!! At leats being smaller breasted, we have less back pain and can fit into tighter shirts more easily!

I'd rather have smaller boobies if it means I can also have a smaller butt. That's the sacrifice we make when going through weight loss I guess. I'm glad the test went well for you. Do you have to go for more tests? I ask because my Radiologist always has be do the sonogram as a backup test. She also told me about an MRI program which is gaining more popularity. Better be safe sorry!

Re: My exciting afternoon....(UPDATE #2)
Yeah well it stinks because I am not an organ donor and dont plan to be one. This is how i choose to give of myself to help others and I cant. The technician also told me she wouldnt have allowed me to donate because I am TTC. So I guess there is a reason for everything.
