Yes, that is correct all the offices are NOT the same. Sorry! ![]()
For the most part, LI offices tend to be more lax than NYC offices...it also depends on the person...it's not uniform and it stinks.
Did you change it? If not, you could try again at a different office.

My sister had this done and recommends the following:
1. get your ss card done first
2. change your passport
only THEN change your license. Changing the license is the hardest part and she first tried to do it with only the ss card changed - they wouldnt let her. Once she came back with the ss card and her new passport, it was fine.
