About 3 weeks ago, I thought what I had was a pimple under my nose. I picked at it because I never get anything like that and I put drying medicine on it. So much so that it grew to be larger and was so dry it bled.
I then went to the dermatologist who said it looked like an infected cold sore. She gave me an antibiotic cream and some pills to take. The swelling went down but I was left with the scab.
A few days ago, the scab fell off, only to leave an open sore. Again, that dried up and now I have sort of an inverted scab- not as thick but enough.
Now, my wedding is in 2 days and I think it looks absolutely horrible. Everyone says it's fine and can be covered up with makeup but I'm not so sure. I'm really upset about this.
Not to mention the fact that I also have poison ivy on my calf and in the bends of my elbows and FH aslo has poison ivy!

It's much better than it was. I'm just really pissed because I never even get bad pimples. I really thought it would go away by now.

Re: My Face!
I am surrrrre your makeup artist can fix it! Don't worry, they deal with this sort of thing allllll the time.
Get lots of rest and maybe it will calm down???

I think it may be past the point of calming. All of the infection and redness are gone. Now it's just a scab.

Re: My Face!
yeah i know cold sores and scabs well.
I had shingles twice a few weeks ago. I had this hug scab across my forhead and now I have a scar. Not to mention a lifetime of bad acne. The makeup artist always knew how to cover it up and blend it in. So don't worry about that. If and when the scab does fall off, do not pick it off, rub vitamin e oil or cream on it and it will lessen the scar if there is one.

Try abrevia. Put it on all day every chance you get.

Re: My Face!
dont worry - at least its only a scab at this point - dont pick at it, chances are it wont be as bad by the time of the wedding and whatever is left of it your make up artist will be able to cover - dont worry!

Re: My Face!
try and get another apointment with your dermatologist to see if they can recommend anything else for the scab...if not the makeup artist will be able to cover or you can photoshop it out with your photographer...you'll look amazing on your day dont worry

Re: My Face!
Definitely DON'T pick at it. Let your makeup artist and photographer work their magic! I'm sure between the two of them any blemishes will disappear!!!

GET ABREVA!!!! Totally agree with this. Also - I don't want to freak you out but cold sores are herpes simplex 1 - so taking a big dose of Valtrex can help you. YOu may want to call your doctor about it - my sister gets cold sores and usually using abreva or zovirax cream plus taking the Valtrex helps REALLY fast.

Yes, the doctor gave me that. I did nothing. I really don't think it was a cold sore because it is near my nose and not near my lip and cold sores need a mucous membrane. I have tried a ton of things and am afraid to try more!

Re: My Face!
I am the cold sore & cystic acne queen! If it has already scabbed DO NOT USE A COLD SORE MEDICINE ON IT (like abreva, etc) it will only make it more inflamed. Coat it with either bacetracin or Aquaphor (my preference) and if you place warm, moist compresses on it at night (while its still covered with one of the ointments above), like while youre watchign tv, it can soften the scab and make it easier to cover with makeup.

it can be covered up...of course my face was actually doing well a while before the wedding and a few days before i broke out, my chin was so bad. I thought no way can it be covered up, i was so upset the night before. Well let me say that they were able to completely cover it up and i was shocked at how well it was covered. So dont worry.
In the meantime, you can put neosporin on since its scabbed. Ive done that when i pick at pimples and scab it. ALso if you can get a sulfur mask, you dont even have to put it on your whole face but you can just put it on that one pimple. Proactiv has a good one so if anybody you know has it ask to borrow the sulfure mask.

Re: My Face!
It can definitely be covered up and although I am sure you see it when you look in the mirror, trust me that no one else will and it won't show in photos. I am so sorry about the poison ivy.

Re: My Face!
They will def. be able to cover it up! You have valtrex and the abreva but also take lysine, they should have a lysine ointment that helps or the pills you can get it at CVS. Don't pick the scab though!
