MY Father and My Uncle HAVE THE FLU with just one week until the wedding!

My aunt and uncle are in our wedding party, and everyone is getting sick!!!!

I got the flu shot, does that mean that I'm definately protected from getting this flu if I come into contact with them?

I just hope everyone gets better...how long does the flu last?

Oh, I'm sorry to hear this.

I would stay away from them. The flu shot, while helpful to some extent, does not guarantee you won't get the flu at all. Encourage them to get lots of rest. (I know that's hard around the holidays, but it's usually the women doing most of the running around anyway.) I don't think I've ever seen it last more than a week. They should be fine, or at least much, much better by your wedding.

They will all be fine, and you'll be fine too..

Be happy that they have it now.. and not next week, for the wedding.. they'll be over it by then.. I had it for 2 days, FH had it for 2 days, the longest I've heard is about 4 days.. so everyone should be fine.. GOOOD LUCK

Stay away from them to be on the safe side.

Get plenty of sleep in the meantime and take vitamin C (doubt it would help much but it can't hurt) and WEAR A HAT outside even if it's 50 degrees out. Or a hood or whatever to cover your head. If your resistance is lowered it will make you more vulnerable to catch a cold or worse.

Wash your hands after coming in contact with someone or at least buy a bottle of that sanitizing gel. It seems rude but with a few weeks to go you want to protect yourself as much as you can.

If they have the flu now they should be better in time for your wedding, I think.

I hope they recover quickly

Stay away from them...when i had it, it lasted for 4 days, and I was weak for 2 after that. You do not want to take any chances!

FH's brother hasd it this week, but he went to the doctor, got some miracle drug and is now feeling MUCH MUCH better!

The flu shot may or may not protect you, depending on the strain of flu they have. I'd be safe and stay away, and like someone else said, lots of handwashing!
I think what palebride was talking about was Tamiflu. You get it from the doctor when you get the flu, it doesn't cure the flu, but lessens the duration and severity of symptoms.

Get them drinking.... I got my mom Propel Fitness Water last week when she was sick with strep. Her throat was so sore, it is thicker then regular water, plus it has vitamins.

PS. Don't forget toilet paper!!! (What goes in must come out)

No worries Kathy - my father had the flu also and he got it 4 days before the wedding!!!!!

Make sure they get to a doctor and fast!!!!

I hope they feel better soon! I would keep your distance from them as the flu shot does not protect against ALL strains of the flu.

I was sick with it for 6 days and lost alot of weight.

GET THEM TO THE DR!
They have medication to make them get better much quicker!
It stops the puking!

today is day #6 with the flu and i am finally starting to feel somewhat better. definitely stay away from them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i got a double whammy - severe bronchitis with the flu - it has not been fun!!!

stay away from them and keep your own immunity up - drink lots of liquids!!
