My favorite DIY - CHECK!

Original post by LisaReyes

Ladies, I have been working on these fabric pomanders (or 'flower balls,' as FH calls them) on and off since November. They were tedious, but SO worth it. I finall finished all 20! I'm using them to decorate the aisle, I'll be doing every other row.

Here's a pic of them all hanging in my closet:

Very cute. What size styrofoam did you use? Also, approximately how much did you spend?
Thanks

I used 4' styrofoam balls. I bought them in the 2 packs from JoAnn fabric using coupons. The fabric was probably about 70 bucks total (use coupons!) and the styrofoam was probably ran between 25-35 total. (again, use coupons!) Plus the PACK of hot glue I went through. I used a very thin fabric, so i used about 1 1/2 yards per pomander. Thicker fabrics use about 1 yard.

Wow these look great! Would you mind sending me the video as well...although I doubt I will have as much patience as you! Wish they were in pink because I would have totally rented them from you!

I'd be happy to rent them to you! I'll assess them after my wedding and see how they hold up / fix them up for you. I can also change the ribbon color really easily.

They look AMAZING! How much would you charge to do mine too?!?! :) :) :)

FBIL swears I should make 20 in every color possible and rent them out. I need a little pomander break for now, but I can FM you the tutorial if you want. Maybe you can recruit your bridesmaids! I did them all myself, because my BMs live far away. But if you have some helpful hands, you can get them done a lot quicker than I did.

Haha, thanks! Would you mind FM'ing me the tutorial?! What fabric store did you use? ...Joanns?

It's very easy. You just need patience. I'd say it takes about 3-4 hours a ball including cutting. A piece of advice: they do NOT have to be perfect. It went a lot quicker at the end because I stopped sweating the little detials (perfect circles, frayed edges, equal folds, etc.) They end up all looking the same!
