so a little background: FH was born in Paris and at age 1 moved w/his family here, so he is totally American. his mom speaks to his mostly french but he only answers in english.
so a few days ago I wake up to him speaking very loudly french so I nudge him and ask him why he is speaking french, but he said that he wasn't thru his sleep. during the day I asked him again, but he kept insisting that he didn't and doesn't even know how to speak french. so this morning, AGAIN, I am woken up by very loud french! so, I push him and tell him 'babe, ur speaking french again', and again FH denied it!!!! I kept insisting that he was, but he very angrily insisited that he wasn't
what bothers me the most is that I don't know what he is saying!!!! inquiring minds want to know!!!
so he is crazy, right?

thats pretty funny! youshould have a tape recorder next to your bed so if he does it again tape him so he can u are right

Woo that's weird but still funny so not crazy . You should totally record it and then translate it the next day, would be interesting to find out what he's saying and you could then prove to him that he is in fact speaking French lolol.

ha ha ha I just lol'ed. That is hysterical! I saw on Oprah that there is a part of the brain that controls language development. The show said that our brains store language even if you are not conciously aware that you know the language. There was a story where someone went in for brain surgery and afterward was speaking fluent Turkish. Its pretty amazing, maybe he stored French in there because he has been exposed to it for so long and it came out in his unconcious state (aka sleep) Interesting stuff.

That is hysterical!! Definitely tape him!! It's actually so weird that he can speak French in his sleep. I can understand it though since he is able to understand his mom when she talks to him in French, so I guess he subconsciously knows the language.

he sometimes does actually
he can speak French, but very very badly. it's just in his sleep he sounds very French, like his mom kind of French. the reason I think he's crazy is why keeps denying it????

people do crazy stuff in their dreams!! my FH a couple of years ago kept waking me in the middle of the night - still sleeping- and would tell me jokes haha i would wake up and be like what are you talking about.... and he would be laughing at his own jokes.... in the morning i couldnt wait to tell him and he had no recolection!!! quite hilarious!
