My FI and I are going to start looking for house...
after the holidays. Can anyone recommend a good real estate person? We will be looking in the Babylon and Islip Townships. We will look in Brookhaven if we have to. Nothing against Brookhaven, my FI works in Brooklyn and I dont want his drive to be all day. Someone who deals with foreclosures and/or handyman specials would be great. Thanks.

I actually do, My uncle is a RE agent in babylon, I have to find out what agency though. HOwever I dont know if he specializes in the areas you mentioned.
And Good Luck! FH and I are doing this now and I am already frustrated!

My advice is make a connection with a couple of real estate agents, be aggressive, and don't give the real estate agents to much information about your finances until you are serious about a house(meaning how much you are going to put down as a down payment) and don't let them show you houses that are above your price range. It's disheartening when you see a home you like and then they tell you the price.
