First of All i would like to thank Wedding Gem for passing the torch! I must admit it came as a big suprise!
SO I've been posting on here for a long time, very shortly after i got engaged. I'm definitely more of a shy person than a lot of girls on here but I still love participating but sometimes I find myself getting so caught up in the world that is LIW that little things effect me way more than it should!
So my question is...******************Have you ever felt like you made a wrong decision in your planning if you post about it and you dont really get that many favorable replies on it?
Is the approval of your fellow brides so important to you that you would change something if they didnt approve even if you really liked it? *********************
Personally, there have been lots of times where I have posted and haven't gotten as many replies, and I would second guess whatever it was I was posting about and sometimes even feel a little dissapointed and then if I got a lot of replies I would be satisfied. But sometimes I realize that this is a little ridiculous because after all it is YOUR wedding and shouldnt you have what YOU like whether or not everyone else does too? AND this is a public forum so why does it matter to us so much?
I guess as brides its so easy to second guess ourselves on every little thing that the approval from our fellow brides is just the extra encouragement we need. But if we are not careful I think its easy to get carried away with the whole thing.

sort of.
just going by seeing what other people post -- i know whose taste i like and whose i don't.
there's certain people who if they didn't like it... it'd make me like something more.
but for the like 5 or 6 girls who i always like what they pick or tend to on my pick... if they told me not to... i'd definitely give it a second thought.

GReat question!
Whenever I ask for an opinion, I always ask for honest opinions. If I didn't want an honest opinion, I wouldnt ask for it.
Its good to get a different perspective. However, I dont always change my own point of view. I just like to see what other people think. Sometimes I might be missing an important piece of the puzzle.
For example, I did a poll if I should do zapshots or photobooth. Many more people said photobooth. In the end, I'm still leaning toward zapshots, because a few of the girls that said zapshots gave some very excellent reasons why AND it was what I was learning toward in the first place.

nope, i posted a pair of shoes once that everyone hated but i bought them anyway. i just post with the mindset that, this is something i like and i want other people's opinions about, but in the end if everyone hates it, i like it and it's my wedding ::insert bridezilla hands on hips with snapping fingers across body::

I guess we're all looking for approval, but it doesn't really matter to me. I know I don't like everything that everyone posts so I don't expect them to like everything I post! I also think it depends a lot on when you post. Sometimes I'll post something and no one will comment and then the next day it will have 50 comments.

My taste is definitely different from a lot of people on here...because of that, I put a lot more stock in the opinions of a certain few girls because I know that they've got similar taste and I also trust that they wouldn't be spiteful in their advice.
I wouldn't change what we're doing for our wedding if people on here disapproved, but if they brought up good points that I might not be seeing, then I'd take their opinions into consideration.
Constructive criticism is good. But people who are like 'not my taste' or 'don't like it' really don't offer any valid reasons in their critiques.

This is pretty much my opinion exactly.

Yes!!!!!
Well actually, it did not have to do with the planning but actually a vent. I felt like an a$$ after I posted it because so many girls were so tough on me. (Not to say I didn't need it) But I think most def. it can be hard to get critisim and it def makes me think twice!

I had the same exact shoe situation, I posted a pair of shoes that 75% didn't like, but I did like them and ended up getting them anyway. We all have different taste and opinions. Sure, it's great if everyone agrees on something, but in the end we all have to do what we want.

I rarely ever ask for opinions about things that I like or thinking of getting. For me its enough that I like it. So I guess no it doesnt effect my opinion. We cant all like same things after all.
For me I guess this site is more about getting ideas and a place to talk and get support as well as give it to others. Also u guys are the only ones that want to hear about my wedding LOL

Good question and congrats!!!
I have posted things before and have gotten fewer replies than some posts but I usually end up just going with my gut. If i love it, I usually go for it and hope everyone else will!

Nope not really. I rarely post for opinions. My original RH did not get rave reviews on this site and I still loooved it and my Makeup artist has gotten many a bashing on this site and I am still fine with using her since it hasn't been my experience. I think I usually know what I want and then I go for it...I've always been like that when making decisions.

From my experience, the ladies on this board have been very good at determining when I really need advice/opinions. I remember I once posted a B-Pic and talked about my experience--which, to me, was pretty personal--and the girls were FABULOUS at responding. No one has ever been rude when giving opinions about my wedding details (to me personally, at least), so I've always taken everything lightly.

i honestly will not change my opinion on something that i post about b/c there's a reason why I posted it, but i will take feedback and input from you ladies.
same as Kris, if you're just saying you like it or you don't like it, your vote actually doesn't count to me. i like reading why you do or don't

I've found many times where I've gotten such great feedback. It's not like I've planned many other weddings so if one of you ladies has already had experience dealing with something I haven't yet, it's great to get some insight. ie questions to ask vendors I may not have thought of.

I guess there are times when I hope that more people respond so I have more feedback...good or bad. I have been very indecisive lately so any feedback helps me. I always doubt myself until I KNOW. So if I am on the fence...I should prob still keep looking. I think its driving FH crazy...I know I am driving myself crazy.

Lately, I have been posting my progress etc... not so much asking opinions. It's definitely nice to get positive feedback, not that negative opinion would make me backtrack on my original plans.

If I listened to everyone, then it would be THEIR wedding and not my SIL's.
Sorry
Umm I liked posting possibilities because I would get other ways to see things. For the most part I guess I was looking for validation, but mostly just an opinion that was not SIL's.
