What bills can I expect to be paying? One place I checked only included heat and hot water.

our place inlcudes hot water and heat but we have to pay for electric, cable, interent and phone also....

some places will include gas heat and water--and then you are responsible for electric, cable and phone.
if you are lucky you might find a place that includes everything but phone, cable, and internet. (we have this kind of deal for our apartment--but its in a private home)

Some places don't even include heat. I pay for heat on my own, although water is included. Some people pay for water. What is included depends on the place. I have lived in an apartment (part of a private house) where all I paid for was the phone. Cable and internet were included. It really depends on the place.....

We've got all utilities included, but not all apartments have this.

groceries electric heat water phone cable internet (try triple play from cablevision) laundry - if you dont have washer/dryer establishing/maintaing the home - ie. bathroom supplies, towels, cleaning supplies, toiletries ...
the list continues...
in the city, most places cover water and heat ... you pay electric and everything else. if you can find a private house, you can sometimes work with them to include utilities (our apartment covers everything but cable/internet/phone).

We pay for electric and cooking gas, plus whatever other utilities we want (ie. cable, phone, internet, etc)...

Sometimes, you can find a place that has EVERYTHING included (including cable)... if you haven't found anything yet - go on craigslist.com or forrent.com to search! HTH
