I had some downtime at work, so I worked on my guest list, included the 'plus ones' into excell so I can get a number, and my original number 152. I somehow got to 192.
FH is freaking out at me, claiming he doesn't know half the people on my list ( he does know, he just chooses not to remember).
There's 5 kids in total, he flipped on me for that too (honestly it took me a few months to decide on it, and it's only my immediate cousins, I cannot exclude 5 kids, 10 kids yes, 5 no).
I just don't know what to do. Majority of the list is all my side including friends, alot who are single, and I do have a feeling some of them will bring a guest just to fill a spot and that's annoying to me, I would never do that.
Also, my mom told me that alot of my dad's cousins don't really speak to him, and have a feeling most of them will say No, other than the ones that talk to us on a regular basis.
I shouldn't have listened to my grandmother, I should have stuck to my guns with this. I seriously want to smash my head against the wall.

Re: my first breakdown....
Why ar eyou inviting people you don't talk to or who don't talk to your family?
My dad has cousins all over the country. Haven't seen most since I was a baby. A few who are local, and they've had a falling out. None are invited.
There has to be ways to trim your guestlist if you weren't looking to have an enormous wedding.

Re: my first breakdown....
we only invited our friends and family with a guest if they were in a serious relationship (dating for a year or more, or engaged or married obviously). Maybe that would cut down the list a bit?
good luck - the guest list is one of the more annoying things

see, this is where my boo boo was.....I should have asked my parents about it before sending out the save the dates....I was able to remove 10 people just now because i remembered not sending them one and not giving them a hint they were invited.
My grandmother made the fuss that my dad's cousins would love to come. My dad knows and hasn't said anything to me about it, but my mother said she thinks most of them will say No.

Re: my first breakdown....
Don't feel bad, I have been working on mines today too and some how we got from 150 to 192 and I'm still waiting on a couple of more addresses from FIL's. With our situation the FIL's were really rallying and thats how are numbers grew but no one understands the cost aspect. Pretty much FH and I are in our FU mode from this point on. I hope everything works out for you though

Oooh, yeah, that's tough. Maybe there are more people you could b-list... is everyone left on your list someone who got a STD?
Originally my dad was all 'well YOU HAVE to you have to at least extend the courtesy. ANd I said well, I'm paying, and I'm NOT extending courtesies to people I don't know. And he stopped bugging me. But I didn't have a grandma to strong arm me into it, otherwise I might have had to give in

Re: my first breakdown....
You shouldn't do 'and guest'. If someone is single or casually dating, they can come solo.

I agree ditch the and guest unless they are in a serious relationship.

Re: my first breakdown....
I feel your pain. My minimum is 200 and our list has grown to nearly 300...with my Dad trying to invite more. I personally feel all adults should get a +1...but that's just my opinion. I would cut people you dont know or those that dont speak to your family to reduce the numbers, if possible.

DItto on that. Our only exception to the rule is if they know NO ONE aside from FH and/or myself. I don't think the and guest is necessary.

Re: my first breakdown....
yea well i talked to 3 of my friends and they verbally told me unless they were in a serious relationship by then they wouldn't bring someone being that they know all my friends. i just worry about the other 25 that are single. and i really wish i didn't have my grandmother's input. i understand she wants her other grandchildren there, but it's an expense...and they're young, not like they are going to know. she's just been all about the family a lot more since my grandfather died.

Re: my first breakdown....
We did not invite our single friends with a guest because honestly we did not want people we did not know coming to our wedding. Plus, half our friends can't keep a relationship. We shouldn't have to pay for their flavor of the week.
