My First Bridezilla Moment

sorry so long but i need to vent

i was at FILs for superbowl last night. the topic comes up of FMIL's dress- we found one that looks gorgeous on her but now she's not crazy about the burgandy color, she wants a pastel or champagne blah blah blah

everyone knows i wont let close family, like the moms, wear blue or purple. get the eff over it..

then there was a big discussion with FBIL, 25 million cousins, aunts and uncles in the room over what is wrong with the color, why cant FMIL wear purple, why is it such a big deal to me etc.

the discussion gets super loud so finally i stand up in the middle of the room and yell 'its my wedding and i can do whatever i want so everyone better get over this really fast cuz i'm sick and tired of talking about it!'

crickets

since i've never had a mini freak out like that before everyone's mouth dropped open.

later on FMIL took my hands and said 'dont worry about the color thing, everything is going to work out the way you want it' i kinda feel bad about it but i wish they'd shut up already.

Good for you. I recently did the same thing with my FILs. You know what? They backed the eff down. Your's will do the same.

everyone needs a little moment like that. and if you aren't known to get loud, then everyone now knows this is a touchy subject and to back up off it.

see my mother tells me I'm a bridezilla cause i dont want my BMs to pick their own dresses (her idea, not theirs)... I wish I could have a moment like yours, but I'm always yelling about something, so everyone just thinks its normal.

That was nice of FMIL to calm you in the end. Your first BZ moment sounds like it turned out okay!

I cant even tell you how much that made me smile. I know it was stressful, but omg, THIS is why we're not involving anyone in our plans.

And I'm buying my Mom her dress. I'm picking it out and buying it bc every dress she picks out looks like a glad bag on her. hello....not at my wedding. sorry.

I found your story funny and at the same time
I had to say the same thing to my Sister who tried to get me to change the wedding time cause it was 'too early' for her.
