my first creative attempt - DIAPER CAKE!

It was for my FSIL's baby shower...I searched the web for a pic and tried to re-create it. It was a huge hit and her Mom thinks I need to sell them in a boutique here in Rochester. What do you think?

Honestly, it was real simple! I bought recieving blankets and all the other baby 'items'...To make the bottom layer, I used a shirt box and formed it into a circle. I wrapped a recieving blanket around the circle and affixed it to foamboard. I stuffed the inside of the first layer with tissue paper (you are supposed to use diapers). I made another layer, smaller, and set it on top of the bottom...and so on and so on!
I used the other recieving blankets around the layers as support...then stuffed the sides with booties, socks, washcloths, etc....VIOLA!
All in all, it cost me about $60, but I could have done it for less (I wanted the blankets to match!)

edited to say...THANKS EVERYONE! I was pretty proud of myself! hehe!

just a note I forgot to add in the last post on 'how to'...affix the bottom layer of the cake to the particleboard to keep it from 'shifting'...this helped in the stability!

DIAPER CAKE

because the stork is on her way.

on the outside, and on the inside too!

Filled with things from A to Z,
so many things a baby needs.
Diapers, toys, powders, and pins,
wonderful times will soon begin!
