I am an out of town bride (I come to LI once a month though), and trying to get a RH locked in while I am here. Let the stress begin! I went to Jericho Terrace and Verdi's today...and I felt compelled to write a quick post about my experience.
Jericho Terrace - Very nice, everyone was friendly. Great experience. Only issue with them is the room they want to put me in for my 110 person wedding is a tiny room. I think it is extremely small, IMO...comfortably 130 people (are you kidding?!?!). Other than that, great place for any of you thinking of going to check it out.
Verdi's- COMPLETELY different story. I sat down at the Banquet Managers desk and when I went to pull out a chair to sit down...I got my hand covered in black electrical adhesive tape that was holding the chair together. NICE! And the guy seemed to have been rushing me out, wasn't very impressive. I'm kind of surprised by this being that I've read some good things about them on LIW.
I also got some price quotes for October 2010 if anyone wants some information FM me! :)

Re: My First Day of RH Visits
I had gotten info for October as well from a lot of places and while I discarded a great deal of it, if there's anywhere else on your list I've already been I'm happy to share info. I'm planning a 2nd reception in Cali and I know how difficult it is from far away :)

What are you looking to spend per person? Check out Floral Terrace and Sandcastle!!! I am an out of town bride. I live in FL and getting married at the Floral Terrace but My sister is getting married at Sandcastle both great places and owned by the same people. I don't get to go to Ny as much as you maybe going to be oly 2 times this year and then right before my wedding. LIW is a great resource and very helpful for us OOT brides. I have a few other quotes too but I didn't look many place but have some from when my sister looked so give me and idea of what you want to spend and I will help the best I can. Congrats to you and FH!!!! and Welcome to LIW

I live in FL too. (Although I consider myself to live in NY and FL because of how often I am here!) Where in FL are you? Right now, I set my comfortable price at $75-80/pp (before taxes and grat). Jericho Terrace came in at $75 for a afternoon on Saturday and Friday, which I thought was very good...just need to guarantee 125 for the medium sized room, which is slighttttttly higher than I think I'll be able to pull off unfortunately.
I have 5 RH appointments tomorrow (Swan Club, CLM, Fox Hollow, Westbury Manor, Riviera)...I'll post more information I get!

Re: My First Day of RH Visits
Verdi and JT are such completely different type of halls.
For the size of 130 I love love the Winter Garden room from Fox Hollow. It is so romantic and the food at FH is great. Also Chateau Briand is really nice and food is great. Millage Inn is nice as well
Below is a link to various halls in LI and NYC that Duet (photographer) has shot at maybe you can see which floats your boat:
I think you should check out Floral Terrace as well!

I live in Fort Lauderdale, Where do you live? I used to go to Ny like every month but I have a 5 month old baby now so its hard traveling with an infant....and FH is always working so it would be just me....check out: Thached cottage, but definately check out Floral Terrace FM me I will give you the info. CLM for a morning wedding in June and July I got $95 per person.
I would just tell them 100 people just in case in the end you could not get the additional 10 people to come. When you get the final list from Rsvp's you can add them but when you tell them upfront it can't be changed so if you're under you still have to pay 110 and not 100.

I agree to check out sandcastle. One of my cousins got married there and another will be in the Fall. They are really nice and probably willing to work with your budget.

Re: My First Day of RH Visits
I just moved from Fort Lauderdale to Boca Raton a few months ago but I work in Fort Lauderdale...small world! Thatched Cottaged quoted me at around $110/pp.
Floral Terrace wanted a 150 guarantee for Friday Night in October. When I sounded surprised he obnoxiously told me...'What do you expect?' 90% of places I spoke to told me 100 guarantee for Friday night...that's what I expect!!! =)

Oh so cool.....well if you ever want someone to go dress shopping with I'm here....I really don't have anyone here all my family and friends are in NY. ....I am doing a morning wedding to cut back on cost. The guarantee is alot less in the morning and the price is under $100 pp. That can be another option for you. Also they told me that if I got married in Jan.-March that it would be alot cheaper and most places were willing to adjust the price significantly.
