Today was my first day looking for dresses and a got one! Is that insane or what? I went to Kleinfelds and the a designer was there so the woman helping me brought in one of his dresses. We wound up taking three of his dresses and creating my dress,,,,,,so actually I don't know what my dress completly looks like. We took the skirt from one. The bodice from another and the beading from a third. Has anyone else ever done this...I'm sitting here and I thinking I'm getting nervous.

Congrats Kath! I am so happy you found something on your first day out!
Several of my friends have done that with their dresses.. sort of a 'chinese menu' approach to dress shopping.. And everything turned out beautifully.. you have nothing to worry about- esp. since you met the designer and worked with him.

that's awesome you got your dress... sounds so exciting to pick and choose the pieces of the dress you want... you have to post a pic as soon as you can...

I did exactly what you did.
First- I only gave myself 9 months to plan the wedding. (not much time to dress shop )
So I planned a shopping weekend. Priscilla of Boston on Saturday. Ulla Maija and Saks on Monday. (It was a 3 day weekend.)
Well, I go to Priscilla and we sort through the dresses, and all of a sudden I am standing there in this dress (my dress) and it has all of the things that I was looking for. I decided that I could look around more, but that I would just confuse the situation. So we got the dress.
CONGRATULATIONS. It is so exciting to find the dress.
