I'm going crazy!!! I know I have plenty of time but FI and I wanted to have our hall booked by sometime in November. We fear that if we wait until after December the prices will go up. We've looked at about 16 places and narrowed it down to 4 possible choices. I'm tired of looking at RH's and driving all over the place. We like all of them but each one has something we don't like or we like something else better at the other place. For example, we love the rooms, outside CH and ceremony area at Larkfield Manor but don't like the distance and like the menu better at Westbury Manor. Urggggghhhhh! Leonard's is the cheapest but I didn't care for the outside ceremony area although I loved the indoor chapel and FH didn't care for the menu. Then on top of not being able to pick a place, we can't decide on Saturday or Sunday afternoon or even a specific date. I'm such a planner and I hate leaving something undone. I'm also scared to book at one place because I haven't looked at ALL the places on Long Island yet and what if the perfect one is out there but we haven't found it yet?? Also I have figured out my budget and I can't afford to spend over $65pp++. The only one that meets that criteria is Leonard's. I wish I had a huge house with big backyard and I would completely throw a tent wedding. I know that's not cheap either but then I could do a Saturday night.

dont get discouraged, keep looking. you will know which one is THE one when you find it... there ARE a lot of places here. I think LIW has some great reviews so check that board out... AND you have PLENTY of time if youre looking for 09.... we booked ours in June 06 and the wedding day is July 07...

Try Windows on the Lake. I love it and the out doors ceremony is gorgous right next to the lake!!
I know how frustrating this is...I felt the same exact way. We looked at sooo many places but when I walked into the hall I ended up booking I just knew that is where we had to book. You'll know the place when you see it.
As far as the Sat or Sun goes. If you are doing a holiday wkend a sunday wedding will be perfect and for a much better $$$ than a sat wedding. If you are worried about your guests don't...ppl partied it up at my sunday wedding.

Re: My first of probably many vents!!!
I hear you. We just got engaged, and picked a day for 07 and i'm already going nuts, even though we've got the three most important things to me (caterer/location/band & music) all set. But you do have time. I know it's overwhelming, just take a moment to relax, you've got some time. If the prettiest location is your number 1 priority, don't be afraid to take some time to find it.
relax. it's going to be great!

Am I understanding this right you got Leonards in Great Neck for $65 pp for a sat. night?
That's awsome... I believe the same to be true for the place as well as the man... `when you see it you'll know

Re: My first of probably many vents!!!
Thanks ladies for the support and suggestions! I know it will all work out but sometimes it gets overwhelming. It's a huge decision for us.
Perfectpair - no, I didn'r get $65 for a Sat night. That's for a Sat or Sun afternoon. I didn't even ask what Sat night was because I'm sure It's out of our budget.
Pixiechickie - No I didn't look at Miller Place. I think it is too far for us. We love Larkfield but are concerned about the distance and that's closer than Miller Place. I think we're only going to check out 2 more places, Ariana Waterfall and Nautical Cruise Lines.

Re: My first of probably many vents!!!
if it's any consolation, a tent wedding ends up being more expensive than one at a hall..... you have to rent every single chair, fork, napkin....
a couple ideas for you.... see if some hall is willing to allow you to be off the wedding plan.... that's what we did, and we saved A LOT.....
Also, if your wedding date is flexible, maybe try to have more of a fall wedding... prices drop drastically, and halls are more willing to accommodate you if you're not asking for time during the peak season (may-sept)...
hope this helps....

Re: My first of probably many vents!!!
I wouldn't be too concerned with the distance. My mom got married at Larkfield Manor and I can honestly say there was tons of food and it was all AMAZING! Even if they don't have many choices-they have GREAT food!

Re: My first of probably many vents!!!
We had a similar problem before we booked our hall, we limited it down to two places. One of them had a gorgeous reception room, but did not include any hotel rooms. The other was cheaper, includes 5 guest rooms and our beautiful bridal suite... We ended up going with the one that included the rooms, ours is $67 pp, and it is Sat afternoon...but they draw the curtains in the reception room, so it looks like it is night
Good Luck

Re: My first of probably many vents!!!
Winter weddings are even less expensive than fall! April, May, June, Sept are the highest priced months. Next are March, October, July, August, then November, then December, January, February for the most part. we didn't pick our date based on price, we had to pick it based on our vacation schedule.
I heard great things about Leonard's - if you are limited to a price range you should make a comparison chart and weigh the positives and negatives of each.
