is about the ever popular topic of... WEDDING DRESSES!
how did you pick yours? how did you know that is was THE dress???
for me: i was in LOVE with a maggie sottero dress since MONTHS before we got engaged. there was something about it that i loved and i knew i HAD to try it on. before i did, i went to DB to see what style looked best on me. so i did and then i KNEW i had to find the dress. i tried on a few other maggies at different places but couldn't keep my mind off this one. i went out of my way to find it, and when i did i was IN LOVE with it. i didn't take it off, NO JOKE for 25 minutes!

I didnt even look online before I went dress shopping. one day i got out of work early and my mom said we should go just to 'have fun'... I tried on a bunch of dresses and then the lady gives me mine and as soon as i put it on i was in love. It was comfy and oh so pretty and I just did NOT want to take it off. I put a deposit down that day and then I was nervous that I didnt look around enough so I seriously looked at about 600 dresses (not kidding) online and didnt really like any better than mine lol (i am nuts).. then i went and tried it on again and I KNEW it was the one. I just love it and I dream about wearing it.!!!

My mom and I really thought it was going to be a very long process for me to find a dress, but it wasn't at all. I tried on a total of 6 dresses, my dress was the second one I tried on and I instantly fell in love and knew it was the one (just like with FH )
We put a deposit down that day and I haven't looked back. Sometimes I get nervous that I didn't look enough but everytime I see a wedding dress I really love, it turns out to be a Maggie so I guess it was just meant to be.

How I found my dress is actually an interesting story
I have been in love with Kenneth Pool gowns for a while. His signature style is the ball gown, and he just has a way to design the most regal of dresses. I found my dress in a magazine, seeing that the label was Platinum for Priscilla of Boston, but I did know who the actual designer was. It was just the most beautiful gown I had ever seen. I could not take my eyes off it. I walked around with the magazine picture in my purse until I finally came up to New York for a weekend and headed down to the Roslyn salon so that I could try it on.
Anyway, when I met with the consultant at Priscilla of Boston and told her the style I was interested in and that it reminded me of Kenneth Pool gown, the consulant then told me that little did I know the dress was actually designed by Kenneth Pool! That the he now designed for POB and the Platinum collection was his line with them. My dress was one of the first of is signature designs. I was so excited! It was fate I guess! I cried when I tried it on! I knew it was it!! I knew that was the dress!

I LOVE the Rivini dresses. As soon as I put on THE DRESS I just got an overwhelming feeling that I was about to walk down the aisle. I got nervous and excited. My mom and sister loved it just as much as I did. I was sold on it

most of you are aware of my former dress situation, in October I went to Bridal Reflections, and the first dress I tried on, a jasmine couture, I felt like a bride for the first time, I tried on like 7 more gowns but knew that was the one, and now, I am such a happy bride to be because as of yesterday my entire wedding ensemble is complete!! YAY!!!

I went to a store in South Jersey (I live in Philly and my friend from Jersey had went there for her dress). I was looking for a specific Marissa dress that I loved and this was the only shop within an hour of my house that carried the sample. I went to try it on and, as I was walking through the store an Alvina Valenta dress caught my eye. The owner of the shop convinced me to try it on and, since I knew it wouldn't matter if the Marissa was really the one, I decided, why not? I tried on the AV and never looked back at the Marissa. The Alvina Valenta was the ONE! My mom came down from NY a few weeks later and she fell in love with it too!!

I went with my mom and FMIL and had no intention of getting a dress, just went with them because if I went to this appt I would get a free veil, but I fell in love with the lady who helped me, she was so fantastic...and when I put on my dress I was immediately in love. The other dresses my mom and FMIL said I just looked blah, but when I came out in this dress, they knew it was it! mom and FMIL started crying and said this was the one!!
So mom put down a deposit for me!! I went back just to double check with BM and MOH, and i fell in love with it all over again!
I'm so excited to wear it!!!

I went to the salon with my mother one night to look at dresses and get an idea of what is out there and what I like. In my head I had a mental picture of the style gown I wanted. We were brought to the gowns and started going through them. I brought about a dozen into the dressing room with me. When I had dress #1 on, I came out... took a step up onto the podium... looked at myself in the mirror... the woman put a veil on... I looked at my mom and we were both holding back tears. It was everything I wanted. I tried the rest of the gowns on just to make sure but never got 'that feeling' with them. I put the first dress back on and knew it was the winner. My mom took pics (see album) we went home so I could think about it. I kept looking at the pictures and couldn't imagine a different gown for myself. A week later I went back with my mom, BM and grandma... got measured and placed the order.
I heard everyone saying how they got 'that feeling' and I never knew what they were talking about. But once I put my dress on, I knew completely what they meant and had my special moment too.

First of all, congrats pandafish!!
How did I pick the dress? Many of you frequent posters have read this before, but here it is again for the rest of you:
I always knew I wanted to wear a Monique Lhuillier (it was my dream, ever since the barbie doll!). But I went as a fluke in August to try on, thought I was into mermaid dresses, and thought I found 'the one' even though it wasn't Monique, BUT it was the 1st dress I ever put on, a sexy Rivini mermaid gown. My dress was probably # 20 out of 25 gowns I tried on that day. A month later I went back and narrowed down my top 5, after wondering why the hell I bypassed my fantasy dress so quickly. I thought about how I wanted to FEEL on my wedding day, which was romantic and timeless, plus a little bit fantasy. MY dress was the first dress I tried on that night, and knew it was IT in the dressing room, thinking, 'yea. this is how I want to look on my wedding day'. And as I walked out in it, my entourage (mom/sis/best friend/future MIL/FH's aunt) all gasped and got tears in their eyes. And my saleslady said 'You know THAT'S your dress, right?' And I cried and said yup.
And there it is

There's no way to say this without sounding like a royal jerk, but I had a lot of trouble deciding on a dress because no dress I tried on actually looked bad on me. I found the dress I ultimately ended up with by accident, the saleswoman pulled it off the rack and said to try it on because it was one of the few mermaid styles they had in stock. I never would have picked it myself, and it was the last one I tried on from that batch of dresses, and once it was on and saw it sparkling under the lights, I knew it was perfect for my 'Winter' wedding!

I went to a sample sale not expecting to find anything but just as I was about to walk out the lady pulled out a dress with long sleeves I imediately said no but then she said it was a Maggie and I knew she made beautiful dresses so i tried it on and fell in love but not with the sleeves. The sales lady tucked in the sleeves and I feel in love.

i tried on about 30 dresses total. the last bridal store i went to they pulled a bunch of dresses for me, and i yanked this one of the rack first because it was so beautiful. when i put it on, i got butterflies and heart palpitations.
