my first QOTD as BOTW! (How many acronyms can I fit in one subject line? :P)
I know most of you are out and about, kicking off your July 4th festivities and such!!!!! I hope you all have a smashing good time this weekend.
My question is... as the wedding planning process has progressed, has your vision or style changed at all? Did you go from having one particular type of event or color scheme and then completely selecting the opposite? Or have you pretty much stuck with your initial concept?

My wedding 'theme' has actually changed quite drastically.... in the beginning, I thought I would go with a nautical, preppy-chic, New England-y tent wedding on the beach (we'd wanted to do Block Island but it would have been a royal pain to get everyone to go, not to mention the expense). I thought my gown would be lace all over, and that the colors would be navy, white, and grass green. Lo and behold, my dress has NO lace, there are no no nautical touches anywhere (except for a small compass on the invite), and in a RH instead of a tent.

Good question.
I think my 'vision' changed once I booked the RH. I totally thought I was going to have my wedding at a very modern, all white walls, all white floor, very lofty type of place but we both FELL IN LOVE with DOUGLASTON MANOR and its open space, high ceilings, fire place, so since then, its been a more magical/romantic feel.

Love it!!!! I too am drawn to that Miami-contemporary style with all white, loungey seating, uplights... Great that you found a place you loved even more!

I think I have scaled back now that the date is closer...I had all these grand ideas and now I just want to make sure it is not too much and too many small little details...i felt like I was trying to cram every single wedding idea into my wedding after a while

I always wanted a small destination wedding BUT FH was totally against it. So here I am now planning a very traditional wedding with a guest list of over 280 people. SO my vision has dramatically changed. Sometimes I regret giving into FH.

I first started out with a green and brown very modern wedding theme then when i changed my date i decided to go with brown and orange and a more classic feel.

I wanted springtime feelings the whole time and chose mint green and lavender as my colors from the very beginning. I think I've stuck with that throughout the process and it'll be obvious from my CPs and all the little touches.

I had the same theme from the beginning. I never thought about the colors or the type of wedding id have. the only thing i can say i always pictured was getting married in a church. like a real traditional wedding. then literally like 10 minutes after FH propose the color Royal Blue popped into my head. So I said 'sooooo I'm thinking Royal Blue'. He laughed at me. I always KNEW I didn't want a summer wedding... for the sheer fact that i dont want to deal with heat and sweating. im just nasty when im hot and dont do well in the heat. and the thought of it makes me scared. so that combined with the royal blue color made me come up with a winter theme. i also didn't want anything holiday related.... and wanted to steer clear of december and january. february of 09 was a little too soon for us and i always loved november (not just because my birthday is in november... but i love the brisk weather of november). so winter themed wedding in november is what i came up with. its been that way ever since and i totally went for it!

My first color choice was brown and a light yellow or champagne color, then it changed to black and white, so I guess I am going for a more classic look now.

I pretty much stuck with what I wanted ONCE we booked our date. Prior to booking December, our target date was 11/7, with willingness to go a few weeks forwards or backwards even in to October. In order to get both a Saturday night at the number one choice of RH, we had to choose our last choice date of 6 possible weekends. Since we were really looking for a Fall wedding, my original idea for color schemes was chocolate brown and pink, and then it changed to chocolate brown and blood orange. Once we picked our date though, I always knew I'd have Burgundy, Ivory, and Gold deep down, so that's what I picked and have stuck with since.

We've pretty much stayed true to our (who are we kidding MY) original vision. Some things have changed to accommodate others but for the most the wedding is 'ours'.
In hindsight though I probably would have eloped in Vegas and took the $ my parents are paying for the wedding towards a house!

My vision changed so many times-my poor bridesmaids I even did a re select on my dress in December LOL I think once my dress was chosen (the 2nd time) things started coming together, and especially after the BM dresses got ordered, the vision was very clear.
What was challenging for me, is that I'm such a 'color' girl, ( I would have loved putting my BM's in that Jim Hjelm 'raspberry' color), but when we went looking at dresses for the girls, I really took into consideration everyone's ages-my girls ages range from 30-44 and doing a pewter color scheme seemed to be the most sophisticated and flattering for THEM.
My ORIGINAL vision, when we first got engaged, was 'Chic, Glamorous, Hollywood style' and although it changed numerous times throughout, in the end it is turning out to be what I always envisioned. So I did end up with my original idea.
M advice to future brides-let the vision come together as time goes by-and don't drive your girls crazy sending them countless pictures of dresses and color choices. LOL

Re: my first QOTD as BOTW! (How many acronyms can I fit in one subject line? :P)
Oh dear...well everything sort of happened all at once. We were engaged and planning a June 2010 wedding and then all of a sudden it was going to be Fall 2009!!! I panicked and made a lot of choices that I later realized that I wasn't happy with, some that I have corrected and some that I am still not happy with but are insignificant in terms of the wedding.
Originally I wanted shades of Tiffany Blue and teals and turquoises and now I have Tiffany Blue with red accents as my colors.
I went with a nautical/beachy theme since we are getting married at a marina on the shore and really I think I should have had a fairy tale theme wedding.
I bought the wrong dress, custom ordered another one and I may wear both or just the new one.
Originally I was going to wear these white frayed slip on converses for a beachy feel and then I bought heels and I'll probably change into the Chucks.
My flowers changed, our favors changed...everything changed!

Excellent question!!
Our vision has totally changed... I wanted to do a 'real' vineyard wedding with a wine tasting reception and my colors were purple and green and cream... that all was going to cost wayyy too much and i decided that I really wanted a fall color scheme, so we booked a RH on a vineyard and our colors are now gold and champagne to go well with all the orange and yellow and red colors of fall for the flowers.

Re: my first QOTD as BOTW! (How many acronyms can I fit in one subject line? :P)
Our vision has stayed the same throughout the whole process, the only change was that most of our visions have come to life even more amazing in person than in our minds. For instance, our flower samplle was so much more amazing in person, our invites came out even better than the proof, the favors look better than we thought they would, etc., etc., etc. I really just can't wait to see it all come together that day!
