thats a tough one. i would say just let it go but then if another co-worker comes solo they might question why he/she could bring a date

Is he dating someone seriously? He may have assumed to bring his girlfriend or fiancee?

This is a good question.. if they have a serious significant other, its almost tacky to not allow them to bring a guest. <

i'd say if it's a serious relationship (like fiance or living together) it'd be ok (though still annoying), but if not then just have fh call/talk to him and let him know that you guys can't afford their guests right now, but once you get back all the rsvp cards, if there are enough 'nos' you'll let him know if he can/can't bring his date.

Have FH call him and kindly tell him that there are no dates; you would love to let him bring a date, however there just isn't enough space and you had to be judicious with invites b/c you needed to accomodate your own family. Tell him that if there is enough room, and you get enough rejections, he will be able to bring a guest. THen, just never bring it up and if he does, tell him that everyone you invited is coming.
THAT IS SO INCREDIBLY RUDE that someone did that. We had the same situation.....only invited those married, engaged, living together, or if we knew them well enough to put thier NAME on the invite. We had 3 people with enough nerve to ask to bring dates!!!! I am SO MAD ABOUT IT. Whatever you decide to do, stick to your guns about it.

People just dont get it! I would have FH call him and say that maybe there was a miscommunication but he was only invited as 1. Some people do this in hopes that you will brush it off and let it go...I say the same stick to your guns!

you politely contat him and tell him that the invite was for 1 only and at this time you cannot have another person added to the list...people are so rude and unthoughtful (if thats a word) they know the rules for weddings

when saying this.....I assume that he is totally single. If he is engaged or living with someone (which your FH should know if he is close enough to invite him to his wedding) then he has to bring her......the rule of thumb (that we used) was that if someone is engaged, living together, or you know their SO well enough ot put their name on the invitation. That is my opinion. If he is just bringing a random date.....then FUGGEDABOUTIT

If its a serious relationship I would say let it slide..if not, kindly tell him NO! that is the reason why the invitation was only addressed to him!...i have a comment to say about people inviting people I will set up a new post...

I would have FH call and state he is sorry for the misunderstanding but no co-workers ar einvited with guests and if he lets them bring a date than every1 else will want to bring one as well. They add up!!! If somone is engaged or in an EXTRA serious relationship fine but cmon now!

I would call and let him know-explain the situation and that no co-worker can bring a guest because of the limit the hall can hold.
