hi girls, so i was in NY this weekend for my engagement party (so much fun) and my makeup trial (i love Jaqueline Nicole, she is so sweet), i will post pics soon. Anyways, I was supposed to meet with my florist to go over what I wanted and get a quote. I emailed her on wednesday (the appt. was for saturday) and she said she was going through alot becasue her whole family lives in New orleans ( I totally understand that) but she said we were still on for Saturday. Well needless to say, Saturday came and went and no florist, not even a simple phone call to say she couldn't make it. I am not trying to be selfish considering what she is going through right now, but she could of at least called. Am I being unreasonable? Well now I have to find a florist. Any suggestions girls?
TIA Steph

I don't think you're being unreasonable but maybe you can reach out to her and have her explain herself. Sometimes life happens - maybe she didn't have your contact info on her, etc.
As for other florists, I just booked with National Floral - I had a great experience with Anna. I also saw George at Signature Florist and he was great as well. Both are on Merrick Blvd.

Steph,
Haven't you had issues with her from the beginning? I think you should see if you can get out of the contract all together. There are so many other great florists. Try Simply Stems in Huntington the girls are sooo sweet and will work with your budget.

Yeah, she is kinda shady. I did not have a contract with her yet which is good. I am going to call simply stems, thanks for the advice.

No I dont think your being unreasonable. Things happen.. totally understandable but still.. no phone call? Nothing? Thats just not good business. I'd call them and tell them how upset you are.

You are not being unreasonable at all. When you book someone you want to be 100% confident in them and know they are going to deliver for you on your wedding day. I would find someone new definitely.

You are not being unreasonable at all. Customer service begins with the first phone call, not after the contract is signed.
Life does happen, and it is sad that her family is in Louisiana, but she is here with obligations. What good is she to her family if she isn't earning a living?

IMO-no matter what is going on in someone's life if they provide a service they should not let personal busines get in the way. At the least she should have somene who she can trust as a back up if she can not make appts.

Good Luck...there are so many great florists out there..why should you be stuck with someone who obviously doesn't care about your business!!

Re: my florist stood me up
i wonder why she just didn't ask if it was ok to reschedule when you confirmed the appointment if she knew there was a chance that she wouldn't be able to make it (or focus) with everything going on with her family. i don't think you're being unreasonable for expecting a call.
have you heard from her since?

Negative and I sent her an email stating
'I was dissappointed that I did not see you for our appointment on Saturday. I understand that you are going through a lot with your family but a simple phone call would have been nice. Obviously, I am no longer in need of your services for my wedding'
Hope that wasn't too harsh but I am mad so I figured might as well let her know that what she did was SHADY. Even though I do not live in NY anymore, I can turn on the attitude at the drop of a dime
