And MY mom hasnt chosen hers yet - its long enough away that she didnt start looking yet.
She was just browsing and saw something she liked on sale. I really hope my mom doesnt freak out that FMIL bought hers first!

My FMIL bought her dress first too. I don't think it's really a big deal. I know tradition says the FMIL is supposed to wait until the MOB buys her dress and then coordinate, but I don't see why someone should have to wait one someone else. My wedding is 4 months away and my mother hasn't chosen a dress yet. It wouldn't have been fair to ask my FMIL to wait.

i totally agree who is anyone to tell someone else when they can get their dress..JMO
i have never seen this tradition and i think this should be the least of worries.... BOTH mother and fmil should look special the day of... their children are getting married

I agree that it shouldn't be a big deal who gets a dress first. When my brother got married, my SIL was a pain in the butt about this. I felt bad for my mother -- she was no less important as the mother of the groom. It is her child's wedding also.

I just didnt know if that tradition was still recognized or if was old school. I havent told my mom yet. All I know is that is mauve and has Austrian crystals on it. Its a gown. She lives in Florida and we are visiting next month, she told me shes not sure if shes showing me yet or she is gonna keep it a suprise! I was like you should really think about showing me!!! I cant wait ya know???
