MY FMIL is here, and so is the drama!

MY FMIL is here, and so is the drama!

The wedding planning has been smooth as silk, up until my FMIL came into town a few days ago!

Thank GOD she lives in Ohio and this is temporary!

Since her arrival 2 days ago, I have had to deal with the following:

1. The RD is now a breakfast (fine with me!), but will it most likely be the day b4 the wedding (guess she doesn’t want me there!) Like I won’t have a thousand other things to do the day before I get married!
2. My theme is fall. The MOH dresses will be burgundy and the flowers will be lovely fall colored roses (burnt oranges, deep red, etc). But I guess since I am not having a single pink flower, that’s not nice enough for her taste. UGH! (MYOB!! It’s my freakin’ wedding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
3. I decided to add votive candles (in burgundy) in plain clear glass holders. But I guess since there are no “pretty” rhinestones or glitter on the holders, I got a “that’s not enough, you should get these and shows me a pastel colored rhinestone votive holder at Fortunoff yesterday. Yea, that will look great with my fall colors (vomit!)
4. My wedding day! I am getting married on a Sunday. And I guess in Ohio it’s not a day to get married on. She expressed that her sisters (FH’s aunts) said “SUNDAY????????!!!!!!! Why on a Sunday”
5. My dress. I have told her MANY times that I want to keep my dress a surprise. She knows about everything else. So what has she been doing since she got here? every few hours she asks me about my dress while winking.
6. Ties. We went shopping yesterday to look for ties for FH to wear at our wedding. I told her I want something simple, no stripes. So what does she do, every single flippin’ tie she picks out has STRIPES!

She’s leaving tomorrow night, I’m counting the hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And what’s sad is that I really do like her. We get along great – over the phone. I guess that’s how our relationship should be.

wow........take a deep breath!! i feel so bad for you..well for some reason..wedding plans turn into 'everyone elses plans'i dont know why..why dont people just state their opinions. and leave it at that! if they dont like it...TOUGH. and about sunday? im getting married on a sunday..my fbil got married on a sunday..i had an awesome time..it was a saturday to me! plus the price is better..exactly MYOB..what do her sisters care if its on a sunday or not..if they are on vacation who the hell cares? people really do come out of the woodwork when it comes to weddings..its all of a sudden their decor..their guest list..their registry....... ..i feel your pain girl..im sorry you have to deal with that...good luck

thanks ladies

I feel better just being able to get that off my chest!! You guys are the best!!

I was crying this morning b/c I woke up and it just hit me all at once. It was one insult after another. And her annoying questions about my dress are really starting to make me angry!

it is just so weird. We talk on the phone ALL the time! she knew all of this stuff already. Why does she feel like she has to criticze? I wouldn't DARE critique someone else’s wedding to their face. Everyone has their own taste. It's not for other people to decide what's right or wrong.

The reason she brought up the Sunday thing was b/c they are fairly religious Catholics and I guess that's a day for going to church, etc. The Midwest is very different from NY. (obviously!) They're much more into religion there.

my day, my way!!!!!!

yea, he feels terrible. he knows she was wrong about what she said. but it's not his fault. He asked me if I wanted him to mention this to her and I told him no. there's no point of him having 2 crying women on his hands. His mom is very sensitive (which makes you wonder why she said all the things she did!)

I'm sorry FMILs are stressful! Don't let her bother you...mine has some crazy ideas...she even suggested dying her wedding dress and wearing that to my wedding!

My day, my way is definitely the quote to live by!!!!

If she wants things her way so bad, tell her to get remarried!!!

Maybe being here is how it's finally all hitting her that her baby is getting married and maybe she feels guilty being so far away and not having more input. She just might be trying to make things better for the both of you in her own way not realizing she's over stepping her bounds. I know just what you mean though. I think when it comes to our vision of what we want when someone puts input it makes us feel(I know it does for me)like what's wrong with what I had. Im glad you love your FMIL though, because it magnifies it for me because I dont like mine at all anymore. You just keep planning it the way you see it and believe me if she's as great as you say she'll be the first one to sing your praises of what a great job you did when your wedding day comes.

Lucky that yours lives in Ohio. You will automatically relax as soon as she goes back. I am trying that smile and nod thing but it doesn't work so well for me I am too opinionated and sensitive.
