Yes it's me again. This really isnt as much of a rant as it appears to be. As you know, my fmil offered to pay for our flowers if her friend who owns a flower business does the flowers. My fmil works very hard for every dollar she earns so i greatly appreciate her offering. The PROBLEM: her friend comes recommended from people i know but at the last wedding i was at that she did last summer and for my bridal shower so many of the flowers were CLOSED!! I am very fearful of this because who really wants closed flowers?! I spoke to fh and he relayed the info back to his mom about our joint concern. She calls me yesterday to make me feel better and says 'I will definitely have a talk with her this week to make sure those flowers are open.' So here im thinking that is so nice of her. We end the convo and she calls back 5 minutes later and says 'oh and one more thing, even if the flowers are closed that day, closed flowers are in.' I almost ripped my hair out of my head. So now what?!?!?!

but sorry about the flowers! as long as fmil def talks to the person about it and tells her that even thought they maybe 'in' you want them open and full..i think knowing that she will be at the wedding she will make sure they are beautiful

She hasnt called me since that day and i think it was because of the silence that came from me as i was internally SCREAMING!!!!!! Who in the hell wants closed flowers??????? With 18 days to go do i really have nothing better to worry about?

You should definitely talk to the person doing the flowers and tell them exactly what you want. I'd be like 'Listen, this is my wedding lady, don't fuckk it up! Seriously, you are not asking for much, open flowers is a more than reasonable request! Keep us posted!

In or not, tell her you want open flowers. Honestly, I would contact the florist myself if I were you, regardless of who's paying and who's friend it is... using a middle man (your FMIL) to express what you want is NEVER a good idea. It's like that game telephone!!! Good luck!

If I were you I would make sure to speak with the florist myself about my concerns on the flowers being closed. Just because your FMIL is paying for the flowers doesn't mean that you can't be the one to speak with the florist. If the florist says something that gives you the impression that the flowers might not be opened then you need to see if you would just rather go somewhere else and pay for them yourselves. That's if it means that much to you. Good luck
