my friend made me cry...in a happy way
This is just a little story because I'm super bored.
Last night I called one of my good friends in Upstate New York to ask her to be one of my bridesmaids. Well, she was at work and didn't answer her phone, she called me late last night but I was already sleeping. I rang her again this morning on my way to work and finally got her and told her that I know she didn't have alot of money but I would love for her to be one of my bridesmaids because she means so much to my FH and I.
The girl flat out started crying, which I definetly didn't expect.
We've been friends for about 6 (FH has known her for over a decade) she's the most wonderful, loyal friend anyone could ask for. She's had a really rough life (in and out of hospitals and such) and about a year ago picked up and moved upstate to escape all her bullcrap on LI. She had a baby girl recently and is kind of in a roller coaster type relationship with the father and she misses her LI friends & family a great deal. She's the only one who works and she supports and takes care of her boyfriend and her daughter all by herself.
She told me that she'd never been asked to be in a wedding and her own sisters didn't even include her in their weddings (for one of them, she wasn't even invited) and she was so glad that FH and I even considered her.
She's not the most attractive or well-kept person alive (not that it would matter) but she's got the most amazing heart and will do anything for her friends. I think it might help her self-esteem to get her a hair cut, a facial and a manicure and just pamper her in general, as a gift since she's just not used to people doing things just for her.
I'm not trying to pat myself on the back or anything but I'm so glad that in the shadow of the multitude of difficult things in her life that a) she would say yes and b) (mostly B) that it would bring her so much happiness just to be asked.
So I just thought I'd share that with everyone because it makes me happy :)
ps.....I'm visiting The Metropolitan today....any words of wisdom??
Any other touching bridesmaid/MOH stories would be awesome too!!
