My Friends Are Having Platinum Weddings....

My Friends Are Having Platinum Weddings....

A bunch of my friends are having these crazy weddings, like 3 day extravaganzas. My one friend is marrying in CA with celebrity bands and all. I just got the save the date, they are offering complimentary stays in the St. Regis hotel for 2 nights....

My wedding is so NOT in that budget, it feels alittle wierd....

I know that a bigger wedding doesn't guarantee more happiness, but I can't help but feel envious.

To me, that is just ludicrous to have such a crazy wedding!!

Money does not bring happiness and I am sure you are doing what you can do for your wedding and yours will be just as special as hers. Don't worry. No reason to be envious.

yup--i totally agree.

a friend of my dad's, his daughter got married....and he went ALL OUT to impress people and have the most extravagant wedding. lobster tails...filet mignon...caviar...etc., etc. He went so far as to take out a huge pension loan for it.

about 4 months after the wedding--they filed for divorce! it took him more than 4 years to pay off her wedding (with all the loans), and she was divorced in less than ONE!

platinum wedding doesn't mean jack shiit to me. whether you get married for $40 or $400K, it's about the 2 ppl and if they can make it work. all the glitz and glamour mean nothing, if you don't have a foundation!!

GOOD LUCK! you too will hav a beautiful wedding

I KNOW! I was thinking the same thing but my wedding will come first, so I guess I can base it on the gift they give me....

I was always one not to believe in all this crazy hype about spending a ton on the wedding, we work so hard for our money and I just can't imagine spending it on one day. I just feel alittle uncomfortable....

yeah thats just insane, but honestly that 2 million is not gonna effect them, they're filthy rich so it makes no difference to them, but still talk about a waste of money

exactly, people who can afford a 'platinum wedding' arent losing money b/c theyre wealthy. Whats 2mill to someone who has say 15mill and makes interest on it everyday through investments and banking?

I would feel the same way. But remember, its not the size of the wedding, its the point of the wedding. You are going to marry the greatest guy in ur life...and spend the rest of ur life with him...in the end, thats all that matters

I watch Platinum weddings all the time and sometimes I think I wish I could have those flowers...or that hall-but really in the end...I have a hall that I love and wouldnt change it, love the flowers we picked.
As we look at spending money on our weddings they are spending ridiculous money to have the same thing just bigger.
Weddings arent supposed to be about extravagence or cost or how many people show up-its about making a vow to your s/o to spend the rest of your life with them and cherish it no matter what and have those around you that love you enjoy it with you.
Besides their DJ may stink at that ruins the whole expense of the wedding

I'm definately a bit envious of those weddings,...I'd love to have hugebut on the other hand, thats not really us... we're not flashy people, and we both really want a simple yet nice, small and intimate wedding. Sometimes I think theres just one big competition when it ocmes to weddings, everyone trying to out do everyone else, and I think sometimes that can lead to forgetting what the day is really about.

Seems like a lot of wasted money, just think of other ways to spend that kind of money if you had it, new car, new house. I am not envious at all, some people just like to impress others and show off their money!! I am doing my wedding to fit our stlye and personality if my guests want more than that toooo bad!!
