My fruitful Saturday at Michaels

My fruitful Saturday at Michaels

First off, if you get Newsday Michael's and ACMoore had 40% off coupons.

So I had 2 (thanks to my mom for saving hers) Michael's 50% off coupons and spent Saturday getting lots of fall stuff and a few wedding items. FH actually enjoyed himself and we walked out with some great ideas. I got my wood treasure chest that I'll be turning into my card box. Gotta find the proper stains etc to make it look weathered to look likes it been through the ringer on a ship (I have the nautical theme) and I also found the bride pulling groom cake topper to create my sports themed cake toppers (Thanks Rita). You can't beat 50% off when you are saving for a wedding. Love that I have so much time before the wedding. I'm buying little things at a time so I'm not freaked by a large bill at the end. Oh, also ordered my groom pulling bride cake topper online. All three items came to $45 and I really feel like I accomplished something. Can't wait to stain my card box!

Buying little things at a time is the best way. I'm starting to look for little things too.

I'm going to start by buying some charms for my bo'k & for the Bridesmaids as well.

After that I will look into cardbox, then.... ? I'll figure it all out more once I actually book my RH

ohh amanda you have to tell me how you are turning that chest into a card box.
I have a realy old, victorian looking chest (that i am actually basing my wedding 'theme' around) and i want to use as my card box too. I would love to know how you did yours!!! Let me know!!!

I'm actually torn on this one. Originally I was going to have my father cut a slit in the front or top so the cards can be slipped in. Then I thought it would be great to keep this as a memento and utilize it as a wedding memory box or something. So currently I'm trying to think of a way to just prop the lid open but make it so that it cannot be opened further easily so people cannot dive into it. Can't see that happening, but you hear horror stories. So i'm still in the planning stages. I'll let you know how it goes. I'm thinking of propping it open then using leather straps to keep it so that it cannot be opened further.
