Re: My fundraiser....looking for raffles!!
If I happen to win this 5,000,000 post contest I'll donate the Ipod (but I have bad luck usually, sorry ) But I'm definetly going to ask around and try to get something for your fundraiser. I think it's a great thing!

You should call Darren at the Apple store in Walt Whitman. He's the manager. He's an awesome guy that helped me out and saved me thousands of dollars when I had a disastrous problem with my laptop. I bet that he'd attempt to help you.

Re: My fundraiser....looking for raffles!!
def check out circuit city and etc.
a coworker of mine had a funraiser for his nephew who was born with a rare illness and they had so much stuff dontated to them!!!
they did such a great job. they had #ed bags all around and people placed their raffles in the bags of the items they wanted - so it wasnt just random gifts people were getting..

try the new store - 6th avenue electronics in Commack... www.6ave.com.
Also, contact your wedding vendors- I'm sure, knowing the situation, some of them would be willing to help out. Even if the florist raffles off a voucher for a dozen roses - still something!

Starbucks, Hag & Daz, Hallmark store, & Target were all wonderful when I was on a committee who gathered items to raffle off for breast cancer benefit dinner.

I have TONS of baby stuff that was never opened that I got for my shower... let me know if you want me to whip up a baby basket. I don't know if that's the kind of basket you were looking for, but if you want it, I'll make it.

Re: My fundraiser....looking for raffles!!
I've gone into different restaurants to ask for gift certificates for raffles. Try Fridays, Applebees, Olive Garden any smaller places you like near you. Starbucks will also donate a bag or 2 of coffee and 1 or 2 mugs. Try spas/nail/hair salons too!
Usually you have to give these places a letter stating what organization you are from and what the charity/organization the donation is for, so they can write it off. HTH!
Good luck!

I'm not sure who to suggest for donations...I just wanted to tell you what an amazing person I think you are. I wish you all the best in life, for you and your daughters

Re: My fundraiser....looking for raffles!!
i would begin asap ... i did a fundraiser in college for friends whose house burned down (yes, our senior year during finals ... 4 years of memories gone )
many places that i went to said that they need 30+ days notice (big places) to get the ok etc.
contact local places maybe even begin with your vendors i.e. a family portrait session, a floral arrangement, maybe a birthday cake etc.
try bakeries, pizza places, mom and pop type stores where they are the ultimate desicion maker ... so they wont give you the 'we have to contact the central headquarters yadda yadda'
try diners, maybe like video rental places HTH
and ps ... its a GREAT thing that you are doing! i wish you the best in life and that you one day find the man of your dreams, the man you certainly deserve

Did you post anything on the Vendors board? Why not try to hit them up for something ?
You might be able to get some good stuff!
Good luck and keep us posted. I think you're doing a great thing and for doing good things something good will come your way.
I wish you all the best for you and your kids!
