Just got married politically/legally. They went down to Miami (that is where she is from) and got married without telling anyone and she just sent a text message just now letting us know.
Now.... I should be super psyched! But i am not... See, its kind of bad luck for two siblings to get married in the same year...(for Greek and I know Filipinos bc a friend just told me). and of course there is that spotlight... especially with my wedding less then a month away!!! and everyone made this known to her even my FH's sister and mom. their wedding is suppose to be next July....
Now, bc they got married legally and not in a church yet... is it still bad luck!? lol! ahhh its just superstition hahaha. sooo ummm i should just get over it and be happy for them but i'm kinda bummed!!!

i'm not one for superstitions---i think you'll be fine. plus who says its bad luck for you guys? why can't it be THEIR bad luck?
its done--nothing you can do--just have to say to hell with superstitions (although i must admit, i have NEVEr heard of this one)---and kind of get over it. you can't unmarry them! you have enough to deal with right now with the wedding drawing near!

This is what I was going to say!!!!!!!!! I understand you being bummed but I wouldn't really put too much thought into it, I mean it IS just a superstition. I'm sure there have been plenty of siblings who got married in the same year and had successful marriages, so don't sweat it!!!!

i asked the priest before i booked my date....remember, MPAS is getting married 2 months before me to my brother....the priest said it was the dumbest thing he's ever heard and that there is nothing in our religion that forbids this to occur.

My older brother is gerring married 6 weeks after me (Me, Sept. 1--> Him, Oct. 20)!
It's even more cause to celebrate!

I always say you need a handbook to be greek so many rules regulations and superstitions its hard to keep up

My FH's brother got married in May (and their engagement was only 5 months) - I don't believe in luck but I see it as another opportunity to celebrate and for family to get together
