My FW wants to change the time of the wedding

Yikes!

We are booked at the Swan Club for a day wedding. My FW now tells me 'I really want a night wedding'.

I personally don't have an issue with it. I really don't care what time we get married. I called the Swan Club and they said they can change the time if we wanted to have the evening (its available for an extra $20 a head).. so thats not a major deal.

The only two major vendors I have booked are 12th Night (photo) and the DJ. I already called 12th night and they were cool with it since their policy is one photographer per day per event.

Ill probably call the DJ later on... but even if the DJ gives me slack on it... oh well i'll find another DJ. My main concern was photography since I liked 12th night.

Now I am glad we were slow moving with this wedding stuff. Imagine if we had other vendors booked too.


I just want to ask anybody if they had any issues when doing this... or any tips I should know about. This isn't definite yet... but at this point I don't see a major problem with it.

Oh... I forgot to mention. The biggest problem I have with moving the time at the Swan Club is we would lose their ceremony space.

We would have to get married elsewhere (church perhaps). My FW was never baptised. I heard people say you didn't have to be baptised or even catholic to get married in the catholic church. Is this true? I was baptised and confirmed myself.

That's great! Night weddings are fun. It's true you don't have to be Catholic to get married in a Catholic church. I think that since you are Catholic, it's fine. You may have to have just a ceremony rather than a nuptial mass, however. Most churches want you to contact them at least six months before the wedding so you can set up Pre Cana.

Well if we decide to do this... I am definitely letting my FW know we MUST get into full swing with planning.

I dont have a problem with the pre-cana. I heard many here said it was cool. I can also skip the actual 'mass' part as well... since well... I dont need it.

I wouldn't mind a night wedding. Might be easier.

I think the whole reason why she wanted the day wedding originally was because of the cost. But now I think she is seeing that we are over budget anyways.. so now we are at the point of 'what the heck'.

My FW is actually on her way to the Swan Club to change the time of the wedding. She really wants a night wedding now so I am glad she is getting her way.

With all the money you spend on a wedding.. you definitely want to get what you want and not settle.

i too have never been baptised and communed or confirmed - but we are getting married at my FH - catholic church - we are not having a mass - only a ceremony and need to attend pre-cana

we actually sat down and disussed with the priest the possibility of me getting married before the wedding and they said that there was not necesary - they just wantedd us to greatly consider raising our children one day as catholic

The only drawback to having a night wedding at The Swan is -- you lose the grounds. There's not much to see when it's dark as the gardens are not really well lit.

If this doesn't matter to you - then party on dude!!

Yeah I know... but we are having the cocktail hour from 6-7 most likely and if the weather is good... outside. It will still be daylight out then... but with the sun starting to set. I think it would make for a nice background.

I have to agree here..... as long as you have the daylight for your pics & your CH then you will still get the full benefit of the Swan Club gardens.

If the church does give you a hard time, you can always go th the Church of the ancient ways or some other non-denominationl place.

DH was like that. We have been to day weddings and the two atmospheres are different. Day weddings are beautiful in their own way but not a 'party' atmosphere..it is more laid back...poeple talk and socialize more..I htink you get better photo ops too.
As for night..it is more of a party atmosphere. In fact people commented on how much it felt like a big party.

You just need to pick what type of mood you want.
