Well, I need to order my invitations this month, and I am trying to get a final head count. We have so many people. FH and I alone have 63 guests, maybe a little more. I didn't even realize I had that many friends.
I want to cut the list down a little, so I need suggestions. I have a problem with who to invite at work. I work at a pretty small place. THere is 2 supervisors, 1 head supervisor, 3 clerks, and 6 workers. I hate inviting people by themselves, so I would only inviting them with guests. I already excluded the 3 clerks, since I don't work during the day, and never see them. That leaves me with 9 people, double that and that makes 18. Add on FH workers and that makes 28 co-workers. That is almost 3 tables!!! What should I do? Should I just say, forget it and invite no one from work. Or should I limit it and only invite a few. I just wonder how that would go over in the work place.
HELP!!!!!!!

Re: My guest list is stressing me out...
I almost went crazy with my list also. I made an A list (people that i HAD to have at my wedding)
B list (people I wanted at my wedding)
C list (people that I didn't really care who came or not but we thought that it would be a nice gesture to invite them)
If you do this list, you'll see how many people fall into the 'C' category.
Hope I helped

Who do you see out of those people outside of work? -people you would consider your friends?
I am a teacher and it was VERY hard making my list...but I had to draw the line somewhere...so I have my principals... the language arts chairperson who I work very closely with and then my friends....colleagues...but people I call my friends.

I really see none of them out of work. We have gone out three times all together in the 8 months I have been working there. I never see my two supervisors unless we have a meeting. THough I thought it would rude if I invited everyone else and not the two of them. My Night supervisor who I see everyday, said to no worry about inviting them all, that they will have a party for me at work, and that would be enough. It is a tuff decision. I don't want three tables of co-workers. that is to much!!

Re: My guest list is stressing me out...
I work in an office with @ 40 other people. There is NO way I can include them all. So I feel your pain. I am making the decision first by including those I associate with outside the office (two people, who happen to be dating one another), second those people I go out to lunch with and spend time with during the day (three people, two of whom are married, the other of which will be invited with a guest). So, a total of 5 of the 40 are currently slated to be invited.
My problem arises with my immediate supervisor who has no manners (eats with her mouth open etc) whatsoever.
Fortunately (or at least I hope fortunately) since we are union everyone knows how much $$ I make, and knows I can't afford to include the entire office.

Re: My guest list is stressing me out...
i would only invite people in your immediate dept. and close friends outside the dept.. If that doesn't cut it, limit 'a guest' to those they are dating steady, living with them, or married to them.
The whole reason people invite guests is to make sure the guests will have company, but if you're inviting that many from the company, they can all talk to each other. :)

Re: My guest list is stressing me out...
fortunately, someone else in my office set the tone for these situations. like you, i work in a pretty small office but when this girl's wedding came around, she invited 4 out of the then 8 or 9 people in the office. (2 were our bosses.)
To that end, here's what I suggest (and what I'm doing):
1. invite your boss(es) with his/her spouse 2. invite only the people at work that you're friends with. they don't need dates since they've got each other (IMO.)
