So today I had my hair and makeup trial. I loved the way my makeup came out! Hair is a work in progress, but I'm hardly ever happy with my hair so it's okay (See pics in my album!).
My issue is that they are extremely pricey...the reason I went to them was bc they were the only vendors I knew that were in NYC so I didn't have to travel elsewhere for my trial. I live in SI and work in NYC so LI vendors are like a world away. Maybe I'm wrong and its the average for NYC hair/makeup but I payed $150 for trial (not including tip) and day of hair and makeup comes out to $500....is it me or is that just wayyyy tooo pricey? I really love what they did but is it worth paying that much...don't know what to do Any advice would be appreciated or if you know of a hair/makeup artist in either NYC, BK, or SI that would help too! Thanks!

ok im not expert or anything and i havent even started my trials but from what i have heard that girls spend it is no where near 500.i hear max 200,but then again just what i heard..hope that helps..good luck

ugh I'm in the same boat - having ceremony in NYC - called one woman today who said she had a 1000 MINIMUM to reserve day of . . I was like my hair will not cost more than my cake

I honestly believe the amount you spent is a lot of money........but hey..........if you are happy with the trial then go for it. There are other vendors out there that would charge you less. Jill Harth, Roseanna Amador.

You look amazing. While I agree its expensive, it might be worth it.
I have had three trials already (no pics posted). I started out with less expensive to most expensive. I ended up booking with the most expensive. The day of will be $250 - $300 for make-up and probably $150-$200 for hair. I did have to adjust the budget, but I think in my case it was well worth it. FH happened to agree with me, as he saw all three trials.
The make-up artist I booked was in NYC. FM me if you want details.

I love the way your hair and makeup look! I wouldn't change a thing, but I certainly would find someone more reasonable and use these images as an example of what you want! HTH!

that sounds really expensive for a trial but if you had the acutal trail in a salon in NYC then I would say it sounds about right ... did you try stacey pitt? she is in NYC and you know who is really good in SI? Suzanne - she has a salon Suzanne's salon or beauty something like that. My BFF lives in SI and we all used her, she was AMAZING! Although I would hire someone else for makeup, she wasnt that good with that. But excellent for hair!

$500 is a bit much, but the person I am planning on booking, who is rather popular on here, is charging me $400 for hair and makeup day of, which I think is extremely pricey!

I think your make-up came out great. $500 is a bit much..I am only paying $50 for a trial and $100 for the day of. My lady is in Queens. FM me if you want her info.

I've been quoted $500 from a LIW vender which I thought was nuts. She said it would be less if I had 5 girls getting their hair and makeup done...I don;t think I'll meet those numbers. I'm def not going to use her.
