Re: My handmade invites!
You can get a lot of the supplies at http://www.formal-invitations.com. I went the harder/cheaper route and got 8x11 sheets at www.artpaper.com (the thick kind) and had them cut so that I could use the scraps for place cards and RSVP cards. I punched all the holes myself - you have to get a hole punch with a longer reach than normal. You can get vellum at artpaper.com, on ebay or if you want it precut you can get it at www.myinvitationstation.com, $7 for 50, which is what I did.
I printed them on a laser printer, using MSWord and the fonts Bickham script and Lilith. we bought a new printer (not only for this because my FI's was on it's last legs and he runs a business out of the house) HP Laserjet 1012 for $150 - I love this printer, btw. I could have printed them at work, but at home I have more control over it. They can also be printed on a inkjet printer but I wanted laser.
Bickham font is kinda tricky because there are about 8 fonts you're using - the swash caps to make those giant Capital letters, the alternatives 1 and 2 to make the swooping lowercase letters with the big swishes, ornaments, beginnings and endings to make cute squiggles and swishes, and regular Bickham Script. You have a lot of choice though. I played around with this for months! I love it because it kind of looks like calligraphy.
I still have to make the RSVP cards and the place cards, but at least I got the invite done!
