My Hawai HM Review Part I and II - Update
Ok, so I'm doing my honeymoon review before my wedding review, since it is fresh in my mind. Kevin and I just arrived in Maui (four seasons) and since our room isn't ready, we're online. We spent 4 spectacular days in Kauai. I wish it were more...there was so much to do! We stayed at the Hyatt which was so beautiful. We went to look at Princeville and Kevin said he was happy that I picked the Hyatt since it is sunnier there and the pools are better. We like to swim a lot. The grounds at the Hyatt are breathtaking. We got upgraded to a partial ocean view room that was so nice. We ate at Tidepools (romantic, but the food wasn't that great), Donderos (romantic and delicious food). Both of those restaurants are at the Hyatt. The Beach House Restaurant was beautiful, but the food wasn't that good and the service was horrible ( it took 1 hour 45 minutes to get our entrees). More to come...
We also went to Smith's Luau on Kauai which was really great. We were still very jet lagged so we both actually fell asleep during the luau and left a little early, but from what we saw it was great. The one at the Hyatt was not nearly as good (we had a view of it from our room).
One day we spent driving to the north, Princeville area. We went to Queen's bath which was so nice! Another day just spent at the pool at the Hyatt. We did a helicopter tour our first day. Definitely do it and take dramamine before hand. It was the highlight of the whole trip! So beautiful!!!! We got to sit in the front and I think that it makes a world of difference.
The rennovations at the Hyatt were noticeable when we walked back to our room as they were being done in one of the wings on the way to our room. It wasn't too bad though.
After kauai, we arrived at the Four Seasons in Maui. We definitely like Kauai much better. The four seasons is nice and the service is impeccable, but our mountain view room is not so great as it is located on a highway and over a parking lot so it is very noisy. We have not spent any time on the balcony. A little disappointing I must say. We ate at spago (which was delicious), Ferraros (also delicious), Roys (very good), Nicks Fishmarket (amazing) and the Seawatch for breakfast (great food and prices).
We drove to the top of the Mt Haleakala (don't know how to spell it) to see the sunrise. I'll tell you that after waking up at 2am the last thing I wanted to do was bike down it. It was freezing! We are very glad that we didn't sign up for the bike tour. We also did the road to Hana which was fun. Blue pool was our favorite!
At the four seasons, we did the ocean side couples massage. That was definitely worth it. We also did the couples cocoon wrap. It was fun, but I think a facial would have been better. The spa is really nice.
We visited Lahaina, but neither of us was too impressed. We drove around the entire island and stopped at the Olivine pools which was really neat.
For both islands, we used the books Kauai Revealed and the ultimate guidebook for Maui and did a lot of the activities listed there. The books were extremely helpful for everything.
Let me know if you have any questions!
